Apparently the suspension was for violating some buried rule that calls for any collegiate athlete to do everything in his/her power to prevent people from using his/her name for commercial use....

Yeah... so.... I guess he's guilty of that.

edit: note that after all this broke weeks ago, the NCAA online shop's search engine was outted for this very thing... when you searched 'Manziel' or 'Clowney' in the store search bar, or various other star players, a respective school uniform would pop up with that player's number on it... associating that name with that specific jersey and number. They have since stopped selling jerseys altogether on the official site

I thought he was gonna get a 1 game suspension. Figured NCAA would have done the 1 game because A&M would still roll over Rice, then he gets a full game in against Sam Houston in preparation for Alabama

But it looks like it worked out for ESPN though, comes out with the story and beats it to death and now everyone will be tuning into A&M/Rice on Saturday.

I didn't even think punishment was going to come down at all... I figured it'd be more like the Cam Newton ordeal... where they play him all year as the investigation goes on in hopes that they don't have to forfeit the whole year after ruling came down...

I think the most surprising thing about all of this is how fast the NCAA took action on it and made its decision...

I guess its easier when ESPN's credibility and fact-checking was flawed in so many ways... but still... when you see the words "NCAA Investigation" you tend to gear up for a long and overdrawn process.

Nashville is a great town. Fiancé is from there, and Saturday's rock. Hate country music however.

Prefer bluegrass over country. I love stuff like Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, and Conway Twitty.

Crap like Florida Georgia Line makes me wish Lincoln had let those states secede.

Crazy ge Rutgers V Fresno St. Best game I've seen in a while. Rutgers lost in overtime 52-51. Heart wrenching.

Clowney looked pathetic. Very out of shape. Convenient "stomach bug".

In other news, my nerves will be shot until about 11pm tomorrow night.

Some Ag came up with a 'Johnny-signed-my-av' generator, to make light of the situation, that plants his Herbie Hancock on any image you upload, the JSA certification badge was a part of v2.0

I had to pay $20 to use it....

Its the year of the (M)oney Badger!

Amen, considering he has had AM number for the passed few years I'd love to see him play like shit next week too. I think hes extremely overrated, hes a great pass rusher for sure, but he made one damn play in that Michigan game, and knocked a dude who wasnt wearing his helmet tight enough helmet off.

He was still pretty beast-like before that big hit though... He's a stud but I DO think the hype has outgrown the ability.

And for the record: I feel the same way about JFF too, I think this year be a tremendous letdown for my Ags in all honesty. Last year was too much, and Aggies tend to fail when they're put in the spotlight (if history proves true)

Aggies are now in the SEC, No room for failure, not to mention they will always have Mizzou to make them look better. But JFF had a great season, and I hope y'all beat Bama for me, but he will not be in the same situation as last year. People know how to plan for him now, and I hope that Coach has learned how to get Murray some time in the pocket this year. If not Gurley will have to have a huge HUGE game, which I believe he will, and I also think he will have a huge last season.

No doubt. And as a Michigan guy, I was dreading how many times we'd see that clip over and over. So it was definitely nice to see him not live up to the hype and have a pretty terrible game as an overweight, out of shape, fat ass.
