Ok serious question. As reported earlier I was offered a job in Louisville pending a background check and drug test. Well I got a voicemail today saying everything is good, when can you start.

I have a follow up interview probably tomorrow at the 21c here in town. If I like what I hear I'm taking that job and staying in Lexington.

So how do I tell an employer that already spent money on me that I'm not taking a job without burning a bridge or something. I mean I know I won't be the first person they've ever had do that, but ya never know if down the road I may be looking again and don't want a big red "NO!" next to my name.

lol. I'm done. I'm taking the job at the Seelbach in Louisville. And if I get the job at the Home2 I'm taking that. Will have no qualms with telling the Seelbach "sorry but I got offered a management position at a much higher pay". So I'm done

I quit my job at the Apple Store earlier this year because the scheduling got too restrictive. I worked there mostly for fun and insurance as I have a strong business selling stuff online. While I’m earning very well now, that could change at any time, so I’d like to find a more stable source of income. No idea what that will be yet...

I can write code and I did an internship at Apple corporate last year before I quit. I automated a ton of stuff for them and probably saved them from having to hire 10 employees. I’m not going to say that I was taken advantage of, but at the point where I’m saving a company millions, I just assume start my own business and make millions for myself. Easier said than done... If you can write code well, you basically have superpowers. Most developers don’t have a mind for business and by business, I mean actually making $ not the San Francisco granola bar/save the world/turn a profit in 10 years crowd.

Anyway, an old coworker from Apple called me and is trying to recruit me for Goldman Sachs. It’s obviously a great opportunity, but I’m hesitant. I know I wouldn’t want to work there long term, but it seems like a great place to meet somebody to start a business with. My biggest issue is that I’m going into the holiday sales season for my own business, so I’m really inclined to just say no. Any perspective?

I don't write code but I work in the financial sector. If you can get your foot in the door at Goldman, you do it. Besides getting paid well its an extremely powerful network to make connections with. And it looks great on your resume.

Thanks Monica, but I ended up declining. There are so many things I still want to try, like publishing apps on the App Store and signing on with a company will prevent that. I’ve stashed a lot of money away and I live way beneath my means, so fortunately, I have the luxury to call the shots a bit

What I didn’t mention is that they’re going to hire 1,000 engineers, so I’m sure the opportunity will remain

The department chair for the school of journalism reached out wanting to talk about curriculum - the broadcasting department is moving from communications to journalism and they may be hiring

Really want to make that transition and go the professor route. Anyone on here teach or go for a PHD?

Ok so the hotel I started working for just over a month ago is being sold. The paperwork is being sorted as we speak.

So I have no idea what my future holds. I've been told my job is fine, but there is nothing stopping the new owners from totally cleaning house
