Oh, and when Béla was playing his solo on the second show, there was a point where he made a mistake, stopped, yelled out "damn, I forgot!" and continued to play as if absolutely nothing had happened.

Man, I just can't point out all the awesome moments in these shows. I'm still in complete awe, can't believe I was there.

The cool thing is, I feel that way after every single show. Even now that I've been spoiled enough to see them almost a dozen times, I still leave in complete awe, and completely speechless. Love this band.

How's this look for the second show (thanks for the set scan):
[Only registered users can see links.]

And so far I got Amber Jack opening show 1, with Big Country, P-Lod, Earth Jam, Subterfuge, and Over the Wall. If I had to guess, I would say it looks something similar to this:

Amber Jack, Whistle, Earth Jam, Futch>P-lod, Longing (or Labyrinth), Vic, Subterfuge, Over the Wall (Am Latin), Bela
Encore: Big Country, Stomp

Based on the late set I've seen so far, that would be my guess, but I hope they changed it up and that I'm wrong!

It's really odd though. Usually when they do two shows at the same venue, they don't repeat a single song. Even their solos are different. Kind of interesting they repeated 3 songs. I can understand the two with Hamilton, but not P-lod.

Big Country was played in the encore of the first show.

And, if I remember right, I think they played Labyrinth in the second show. Or Kaleidoscope. Julio could help me out here.

It got pushed back to next year. They decided to run with his album with Chick.

I'm really excited to hear all that material he wrote in Africa. What did he say, he wrote something like three albums worth of material while he was there?

Yeah, something like that. And don't forget about the documentary

It should all be spectacular. I'm fine with waiting another year or so, as long as they are releasing albums and touring, I'm cool with whatever material it is. Bela & Chick will have to do this year, that plus Jeff's Mondo Trio that comes out (oddly enough) on the same day.

We have one from the late show in Brazil, missing Sinister Minister, that a guy sent me. But it sounds REALLY bad... I'm splitting the tracks now.

One guy told me he would record the early show, but I don't know if he's done it.

So, for the late show, Hamilton did (or did not) guest on Sunset Road?? It says he did on the setlist scan, but everyone seems to be not listing him as guesting on it when they talk about the set.

He didn't. On both shows, he played on Am Latin and Big Country.

is that where they're playing? I mean, it's an awesome place acoustically for a show, but it's the end of June! Play outside!

Just going to throw this out there to you guys for a little hand. I'm attempting to fill in some holes and I'm in search of a couple shows to help me out. So if you get a chance could you dig through your lists and see if you have 'em. They are all Flecktone shows.

1992-03-02
1995-10-08; 1995-11-04
1996-01-27; 1996-01-29; 1996-06-07
1997-08-20
1998-02-08
2001-03-11; 2001-03-12; 2001-08-07; 2001-08-08
2002-03-08; 2002-03-09

A lot of them are on db.etree.org, but I've attempted to email the owners with no response. And for some of the shows, the owner I emailed is the only person listed. I think finding some of these shows could put a lot of "Un-named" and "Unreleased" songs to rest, but, again, I have to find them first.

Thanks in advance!

Bela will be appearing on David Letterman with Tony Trischka and Steve Martin on April 26.

Quote:
On Thursday, April 26, "modern master of the banjo" (New York Times) Tony Trischka will join fellow five-stringers - actor/comedian Steve Martin and Bela Fleck - for a rare performance on The Late Show with David Letterman. The three players will perform the Steve Martin penned instrumental "The Crow," from Trischka's critically acclaimed new album, Double Banjo Bluegrass Spectacular.
Don't miss it, and I hope someone gets a recording of it so we can have another vid to circulate. There definitely aren't enough of them. Thanks to Marie on the Flecktone's board for noticing this.

If somebody reminds me when the date is closer I'll set the DVR to record Letterman on that night in HD and post the transport stream the next day....

Have you heard that Trischka album yet? It has those three guys, Chris Thile, and a ton of other impressive names on it. It's FINALLY on the piggy, so I am grabbing it now, but it wasn't up for a while when it first came out, so I haven't heard it.
