They could’ve included any known song and gotten the same comments.

DMB has chosen to align with #dmbfamily because they brown-nose. They deserve all the stalking and creepiness that comes with endorsing that group

I think it’s pretty safe to assume that among the people who like those songs you would find, at least, Dave Matthews. I’d feel fairly confident saying that that’s the main reason those songs keep getting played. And it’s not like they aren’t well received, overall, when they’re played.

How many songs were the ladies on? Did Dreamgirl have the intro? Is Buddy basically a black Butch Taylor?

I wonder if the other band members dislike some of these songs that are well below average and bad? I wonder if Carter or Roi used to tell Dave that some of these tunes aren't our best work.

Dave's solo sets and his sets with Tim have been a little more diverse than DMB sets. I am not totally sure its Dave who doesn't like their best work all the time.

Iím gonna let this land under the ď(almost) anythingĒ. Trying to answer questions while respecting privacy of the band and their work that they are putting in for us.

I will say that I only heard one new/unheard of song. And it was awesome. It was a mellow jam with two distinct horn riffs. Both of which sounded great. No vocals. Not much vocals all day actually. Dave did sing some but mostly did not. Iím assuming to save his voice.

No ladies. No violin (obviously). Keys are strong and fit this music really well. Iíve taped for 17 years and Iíve always thought that we needed to bring keys back into the mix. I would say this guy is not Butch. Heís got chops and itís clear the band loves him!

Good stuff. I appreciate you sharing what you can. It sounds like a couple tapers were invited to listen to rehearsal. Exciting stuff

Any changes to existing arrangements for old favorites? Also did the band misty stick to playing songs through or was there more improvisation? Maybe beyond soloing but more in structure.

Good question.

I got the feeling that it was mostly the same. But they did do a lot of stopping to restart a jam. That tells me they are learning.

Nothing as crazy as the Too Much change back in... (When was that?) I can’t remember.

The keys were jamming. The Hammond mostly (LOVE). I honestly forgot about the lack of violin.

Bottom line, trust their pick here. I’m already in love with Buddy Strong!

Edit to add: These were not full songs. Some were but there was a lot of stops and restarts. “Let’s try this” kind of thing. Lots of “let’s focus on this jam”.

I think that’s a positive. That’s work. They’re making sure that they can fit this new member in and it sounds great.

Plus, no more of Dave’s crappy piano playing (presumably).
