This thing is getting its ass kicked. DMB should announce a late summer/fall tour.

That's denying science.
They're only a threat inasmuch as we don't mitigate the virus properly i.e. what I mentioned above.

They're a threat in that the more the virus spreads, the more it can mutate to something we can't control with a vaccine.

Based on what existing science related to coronaviruses?

We’ll wait.

Spoiler:
HOAX!

Maybe that's why influenza is so tricky? The human race couldn't get vaccinated when time was on their side.

I'm guessing he is assuming the June/July/Aug dates will be cancelled.

Nah, the flu mutates much, much faster than coronaviruses like COVID-19. It’s an entirely different beast. The spike protein (and targeting the spike protein) is a big factor that makes COVID-19 so unique...but also something we have a very very very good chance of beating, unlike the flu, because we’re able to target that spike protein specifically (which appears to be a part of all strains; it’s needed for the virus to invade human cells).

Last I heard, COVID is projected to have something below 25 mutations per year. The flu has ~50+. SARS-CoV-2 is also - genomically - twice as complex as common flu strains. When you add these factors together, the seasonal flu mutates about 4x faster/more frequently than SARS-CoV-2. I’ll see if I can dig up where I read this.

I have tickets to 2 shows in April that are still being promoted. I'm not counting on them happening. And I have a ticket to Rage Against the machine in August in NYC. Not counting on that either

Influenza is tricky because by the time a vaccine can be ready the season is over.

Covid is much more infectious and serious, thus there is no seasonality to it.

Cool story?

The flu vaccine is a guess into the future, it is not created in response to the flu strain.
