The X-Files

this is needed.

i'm making my third attempt at going through the entire series. i always lose interest around season 7 and i'm hoping to push through the non-mulder episodes this time.

fuck yeah it's worth starting. the seasons after the first movie start to fall apart and get weak but the first few seasons are excellent. especially 2-4.

I've been through it twice (not counting watching it when it was still on) and I can't get through the non-Mulder ones either. I didn't even watch them when they originally aired. I'm shocked that there isn't a thread for this already.

The X-Files should have ended at the end of Season 7 when pretty much every story arc was tied up.
Spoiler:
Mulder being abducted would have been a perfect finish to the series.

If I remember right, that was originally the plan. It was only at the last moment that Fox convinced Chris Carter and all them to keep it going.

Anyways, this is the best show ever, IMO. I also liked the second movie, despite the fact that it was crapped on by pretty much everyone.

Favorite epsiodes? I think "Beyond the Sea" and "Clyde Bruckman" would be up there for me.

The second movie made me throw up in my mouth a little. I expected SO MUCH more.

I was a HUGE X-Files fan from seasons 1-5. Started getting bored during season 6, then stopped watching completely part way through season 7. Kinda sad how badly it fell apart. But those first 5 seasons were awesome, especially 2-4!

They've talked about making a 3rd movie, but I almost hope it doesn't happen.

They just added them within the last few weeks. I had all the episodes on VHS, but gave them to Good Will a few years ago. It will be fun to go back and watch them all on netflix.

I have them all on DVD...God, I love the library and DVD burners! I wouldn't mind of they made a third movie, as long as it dealt with the mythology of the show and wasn't just a MOW episode like the second, and the second wasn't even a good MOW. There are two types of X-Files episodes, Mythology eps and MOW eps (MOW stands for Monster of the Week, but if you're an X-Phile, you should already know that)

that second movie was abysmal. what a piece of shit.

my favorite episodes are Home, Jose Chung's From Outer Space, Squeeze, and Ice.

Like I said, that seems to be the general reaction. I thought it did some things well, although I'd agree that it didn't come close to meeting my expectations.

as long as you're comfortable not hating a movie that stars Xzibit.

settle down... you guys yourselves say you can't make it through watching it from start to end. several shows take a bit to get off the ground and not all require you start from the beginning. i don't know shit about the X Files except that the B-lister from the that dumb softcore porn show on Showtime is in it. and afterall, i thought this was a discussion board...?

but now you can rest easy knowing that i'll start from the very beginning.

you're not helping your case calling david duchovny "that b-lister from that dumb softcore porn show". it's a tough show to make it through because of the shitty later seasons, but the beginning is great except for a couple poor stand alone episodes in the first season and david duchovny is fucking awesome. also, is that dumb softcore show you're referring to Red Shoe Diaries or Californication, because Californication is also a great show.

it took a lot of effort for me not to make this post just "go fuck yourself moron"
