I always viewed the 'musical director' thing as a tongue in cheek dig at Rashawn, playing on other douchiness he's exuded through the years.

Come Tomorrow (LP 9) Album Discussion Thread (June 8, 2018)

I think he referred to himself as the musical director in the fake-Jamaican-accent video and we’ve been rightfully lambasting him for it since. You know, since he hasn’t exactly been proving us wrong.

i listen to this album - specifically the Idea of You through CoCo run - more than I ever listened to the previous 2 albums. Not sure what that says. I also think Samurai Cop is a tremendous studio track. Lastly, this album really could have benefited from Bismarck.

that is all

This album is still overall boring to me. Very close to the worst if not the.

IOY is a let down both on disc and live
SC is actually a plus. I figured since I was tired of it I would t care much for it but it's better than expected.
She is my overall fav on disc and live. Hits me as having potential to grow even more.

A bunch of the songs just do nothing for me period, disc or live. Live is where I really judge as I don't listen to the studio discs much so I'm hoping it grows since the first yr is generally tough on all new releases since ED.

PS Bismarck dis is still irritating in particular to how boring I find the rest of the disc

I know it’s been said many times, but the run from She to Do You Remember is the best since Busted Stuff

Possibly, but still levels below anything on Busted Stuff unfortunately. I think the worst part about The last two albums (CT and AFTW) is that a lot of the songs donít translate live. The one thing I would give BW credit for is that a bunch of it is really good live (WIA, Squirm, Funny, Seven). Even though Iíd rather hear other songs over those, i canít deny they arenít really good energetic live songs. Squirm is one of my favorite openers Iíve seen to be honest. These last two albums are just really failing to translate in that setting.

I think what it is for me is it wants to have these gigantic balls but then there are these kinda bad trumpet and sax parts that pussify it. Like, either have balls or donít.

This is pretty much me verbatim. I love this album with the exception of very few songs. She doesn’t do a damn thing for me.

I still find myself saying this one (for me) is pretty close to the top outside the Big 3.

I'm intrigued by all the polarized opinions this album is generating/has generated.

Yeah itís been very love/hate. I think all of us really want to like the album, but I found myself having to force myself to really be into these songs. I definitely listened to Big Whiskey much much more than either AFTW or CT combined.
