I think the usuals will still get a good amount of play (Do You Remember, She, Samurai Cop, Again & Again, Can't Stop, That Girl is You) and they'll bust out Come On Come On, The Idea of You, Here On Out and Come Tomorrow every 6th show....and they'll continue to bafflingly ignore Black & Blue Bird and Virginia in the Rain....because it's DMB.

Idk if I were DMB I'd maybe ignore VITR too. When it was played at Mansfield last year I've never seen such a big fan exodus to the restrooms/concessions. The place emptied out almost immediately.

probably happened a lot with debuts, but unfortunately they dropped VITR - probably the best tune on the whole album (top 3 at worst)...too bad. |

The fan base literally only wants to hear Sledgehammer. They can't be bothered with a beautiful piece of music like Virginia in the Rain.

I'm at the forefront of thinking the band has bad judgement, but if a song continually gets no reaction from the crowd, it's hard to reasonably expect them to play it.

Well they played it a ton the year before it was actually on an album. Seems like a weird time to stop.

Yea true. If I had to guess, my gut would say that after they saw it get very little reaction in 2016 (understandable since it's slow and nobody really knew it) they saw the crowds thin out big time the 2 times it was played in 2018 and just figured this isn't a song we're going to play live much/if at all. Who knows though.
Personally I do think some songs just play better on an album than live and that's one of them.

sometimes I still have nightmares about that Thank You interpolation sung by the fucking fans(!) during the beautiful outro that was once So Damn Lucky. What's next? We should start a "mom it's my birthday" chant during the outro of dreaming tree. who's in?

There was only one precursor to a BTCS and after like 3 shows, it was played to start the encore every single night. Everybody didn't go do their business at encore break, start to a hear a song they weren't sure what it was, then go do more business. But it certainly happened songs like Sugar Will in 2004. That was an exodus. |
