Not that anyone around here cares. But both U2 and Elton John should be releasing new albums later this Fall. Pumped for both!

And Tom Waits is currently writing songs for a new long player.

Oh, I almost forgot, Matthew Good is putting out a new one in a few months. Arrows of Desire it's gonna be called.

As long as U2's new one is better than that boring turd No Line i'll be happy.

I don't give a fuck about anything Elton John has done since the 70's

Listen to Songs from the West Coast. It has plenty of piano. This upcoming one, called The Diving Board, supposedly has even more. But really, I don't feel he's put out a mediocre studio album in over twenty years.

As for U2, No Line on the Horizon was their best album of the last decade. Maybe not for hit singles. And they could have swapped the album version of the title cut for the single alternate. It's more energetic. But vocally, Bono has rarely sounded as fresh lately. Especially for songs like Moment of Surrender and Magnificent.

The rockers Stand Up Comedy, Get On Your Boots, and the even greater Breathe, all show a band still rife with captivating solid ideas. The quieter White As Snow and Ceders of Lebanon add mellow spice to the outing. We need more somber contemplation from U2.

The anthemic Unknown Caller... how can anyone not be buoyed with hope by this song? Yes, spirituality plays a big part in their music. But U2 has always really just been the world's most famous Christian Rock band.

Crazy Tonight is perfect single material that boasted of one of the band's best videos, an animated tearjerker like no other I've ever watched.

Finally, the ambient beauty of the medley Fez - Being Born is magical. The last verse is evocative of how we hopefully all once arrived into this world.

The album cycles through many emotions, such as fear, excitement and reverence.

Let me in the sound: a phrase sung a few times during the album. A sound is not just a sound though. It is also a state of thought. A cocoon. A refuge. A possible reality.

For some other details, Larry's percussion hasn't been as intricate since Achtung Baby. The Edge has some great solos. Adam is his usual reliable self. Bono shows a depth of passion he hasn't in a long while.

One of the great facts of U2 is you can almost always hear each member clearly and separately. All four hearts beating as one.

I'd put this in the Phish thread, but I don't want to go in there.

Is Phish A Great Band?

the comparison of their scene to ICP and Juggalos was hilarious and accurate and sums up perfectly why they deserve all the mockery they get.

Real talk, no normal person who isn't a homosexual male or a weird 50-something broad listens to post-70's Elton John.

Everyone who says "Elton John is awesome", myself included, is talking exclusively about Levon, Bennie & The Jets, etc.

Tumbleweed Connection is my favorite album of all time.

That said, "I'm Still Standing" and "Can You Feel The Love Tonight".

Anyone who's got Sirius, they're broadcasting The National live from Barclays Center on channel 35. Sounds great so far.

You can sign up for a free trial, that's what I did.

And in complete agreement on needing a live record.
