I mean, just say it. Set a tone. Who gives a shit of some people don't like it?
I have no problem telling people to shut up. And I do at many shows. Not so much DMB in an amphitheater, but smaller/quieter shows I tell people all the time to shut up, go to the bar, please stop talking during songs, i don't care about their work and/or relationship issues, etc. Most of the time, they are embarrassed and get defensive initially, but then settle down. Occasionally it riles them up more, but between their alcohol abuse and attitude, I tend to get ushers and other patrons to side with me pretty rapidly.

I have no patience for people who act like assholes at concerts.

Admittedly I get frustrated by distracting noises more than most, just in life. So at concert, I figure that's my own problem and I swallow it and hope maybe a look will suffice, but not more than that. What I am absolutely over is the guy in front of me holding his phone over his head to record a full song directly in my sight line, and those who record a full song record many songs and clips through the night. I'm not just talking about getting a few good pics, either. Everybody does that.

It is amazing to me that two people can have a full blown conversation about some bullshit during a song being played at a concert. And of course they are raising their voices so that the other person can hear. Like, why did they buy a ticket?

Last show I went to someone was talking about what they wanted for Christmas for the entire length of a song. They were an adult. It was nowhere near Christmas time.

For some reason I read this as what they wanted for Christmas was a song for its entire length and assumed they were talking about Grey Street with the 3rd verse.

People are insufferable narcissists and social media + alcohol is a horrible combination.

Too many people these days are more concerned about Instagram/Facebook updates than what they're actually witnessing. It's about "checking in" and being seen at shows much more than actually paying attention to anything. It's like their attention span can't handle any period of time where they aren't the center of attention.

It's just so selfish. And that's why it irritates me. It's disrespectful to the performer and literally everyone else around you.

I will say too, that as I've gotten older the people who annoy me most at shows aren't young fans... but rather like 30-40 somethings. They tend to be the crowd that is most obnoxious and drunk to me. They have money to spend on the show, maybe it's their one night a month to be away from their kids. They're the loudest, most abrasive group consistently at shows I attend.
