Listening to the Woodlands, he sounds pretty good to me. Much better than he had been. The end of #41 is a good example. It seems like he's starting to get back into it, but there were definitely a couple sour notes here and there.

I had no idea until watching that video that Boyd played during Mercy.

Same. For some reason I thought he was in his early 40s when the band got started.

I think they've talked amongst themselves, to management, and to Boyd personally. I think he honestly doesn't give a shit.

I think the next move is the band's in deciding to get rid of him or asking him to leave. I would love to know what happened in the studio. I thought that might be a catalyst for change, but Boyd hasn't changed one bit. Even though he says otherwise, I wonder if he completely blew off the studio like Big Whiskey. I'm pretty thoroughly convinced they had to bring in the string section because his playing was bad.

I just wonder when they are going to get the balls to say you're out.

Yeah, Tim's age surprised me the most.

If Roi were alive, he'd be turning 51 in September.

It will be interesting to hear the whole album because I liked hearing him on Gaucho.

I don't think there was much of him on Gaucho. When he was playing, I think they had him turned down real low.

I don't think it would ever come to that to be honest, for better or worse. This band has shows they reward those who have been with them since the beginning (like stage crew, although the Warehouse doesn't seem to follow suit with their members). They're not going to kick out a core member of the band that they consider to be a "founder."

I think Lillywhite is full of shit about Boyd being active on the album or whatever. That would require a change in attitude for him, which we're definitely not seeing.

I'm sure he felt he got what he needed (although he's probably being tame/civil since they're putting out an album together), but he has said in the past that Boyd is extremely difficult to work with in the studio because of his inconsistent performance.

That's what I thought. I'm not the most insightful person when it comes to music, in fact I have no music talent and don't know much about in and outs of music, but I thought he was pretty active.

He was absent from Big Whiskey. Or at least turned down so low you couldn't hear him. Felt like he was really low on Gaucho. They probably did that because he sounded bad.

are you talking live or studio? because he's mixed evenly with everything else in the studio cut and more prominent than i've heard him in a long time.

I'm talking studio. He's inaudible for most of big whiskey. I notice him off and on with Gaucho, but I'm still really skeptical about Lillywhites claims that Boyd actually did something in the studio.

Seems like he's trying to play on Gaucho and Mercy live but he's on mute. I wonder if the sound guys make that decision on the fly if he is sounding good or not. Because often times when he plays, he just plays the wrong parts. I don't know why we'd expect him to play the new songs correctly if he cant play songs that he's played hundreds of times correctly.
