Enjoying the show.

Two complaints though.
I like what they tried to do with Stay in these 1999 shows, but too often it just sounds messy to me. The bridge section they end on especially sounds messed up to me.

I'm past the point in my fandom where I give two shits about Davespeak. I wish they'd just cut most of it out entirely, along with all the annoying fans yelling shit. I forgot that D&T crowds sucked even back then.

I prefer they leave in Davespeak. I would prefer the shows be as untouched as possible (the OCD in me is annoyed the little Bethlehem tease thing was omitted).

However, I'd be fine with them being separate tracks. The worst are those DMBLIve's where they are before the songs.

I can't even begin to understand why someone thought that was a good idea.

Id get it if he was actually talking about the song, but if its just gibberish, then stick it at the end.

Agreed.
Anyway, I like Radio City and Luther because very little Davespeak was left in, unless it was about the song. Makes the releases as a whole so much more appealing to listen to over and over. When you have to skip ahead several times throughout a release to get to the music, it gets pretty annoying, IMO.

I prefer the whole show unedited. Especially Dave and Tim shows...that was part of the whole thing for those 96-99 shows.

Yeah, I'm pretty much with you on this one. I wouldn't say that I'm annoyed by it, but I definitely don't feel any great need to hear every thought that Dave has during a show anymore either.

I like most Davespeaks. As long as he doesn't retell the Fanta & Cheese Puffs story, I'm ok with Davespeak.

.

Yes. Especially on a LT or dmblive release. If they want to edit an in store to get it to 2 discs, whatever, but I'd prefer the show. I want a live show to give me the experience of the live show.

Plus, when you're listening to it, it actually sounds like the show as it was. Sometimes they cut too much crowd noise between songs on the Live Trax and it just doesn't feel like a DMB show. I don't need the full song breaks, especially the way they were in '98 and '99, but when you've listened to a lot of show like we have, you notice it doesn't sound right when Don't Drink the Water follows Warehouse 5 seconds later

I love that song. It's better full band, but any version is great to get, especially the LT ones.

i think we're all too old to be saying "davespeak". think about how stupid that fucking word is for a second. we didn't need a new word for "talking" just because its dave matthews doing it.

great release

Great release. But yeah, way too much "talking". I'm not trying to listen standup here .

Eh, it's effective as a shorthand for all the stories and asides that come out of Dave's mouth at a show. It's a dumb word, but it does a job and is 20+ years ingrained in the fan base at this point.

Always been a weird thing for me. "stage banter" is what I go with when tagging recordings with separated tracks, or talking about it.

If it was Dave and the band talking it would be "banter." Dave telling stories, making noises, and being incoherent is fucking Davespeak. Stupid or not, it's an accurate description and it stuck (over 20 years ago). Ridiculous to change it now.
