I guess. Still gave up too much.

It just seems like every time the Buccaneers have a high draft pick, they end up with a turd.

Hell, just in recent memory:

Drafted 5th in 2005: Cadillac Williams (1 good year, multiple knee surgeries)
Drafted 4th in 2007: Gaines Adams (unproductive, now dead)
Drafted 3rd in 2010: Gerald McCoy (unproductive, two season-ending injuries)

This year -- another Top-5 pick, another turd.

Says a lot when the only player ever to really matter from Brown's history thinks the RB is completely ordinary.

Yes, they needed a RB...but I don't think Richardson is gonna do shit for them. They should've drafted Blackmon, especially if they were sure they were going for Weeden as well.

Barron can play. Your defense greatly needs the help. Basically worst in the league last year.

Weeden would have been a good pick at 37...why the fuck did they draft him there though? Who was going to draft him before 37? I'm sure they wanted Wright because they have no receivers but once Tenn took him they should have went OL or traded.

That's not the point. The point is they had two guys they wanted to get and they made sure they got them. Obviously they aren't going to turn it around in a single season with a single draft. But they got who they want, and they'll try to do the same next year.

I think that the Bears pick was pretty bad, but I'm not calling it a turd yet. And I am delusional when it comes to the Bears. Gotta wait and see how the picks pan out.

Absolutely. I am pretty low on Richardson, though. But I think Blackmon would have been a much better pick.

I'm sure Barron can play (though, as part of that Alabama defense, it's really tough to separate out how good he is vs. how good the unit he played on was) -- but safety is arguably the least-important position on the defense. An elite safety can be a game changer (see: Troy Polamalu and Ed Reed), but unless you've got one the rest in the league are fairly interchangable. Barron is also a hard-hitter, which in the modern NFL translates to "15 yard flag machine." Joy.

Cleveland had to move up to that spot, if only to protect it from TB, they were looking to leap frog, and being they wanted Richardson too

Talk of Browns wanting to trade McCoy now and just build around Weeden. Sounds like Shurmur is in love with Weeden. They better trade for a receiver or it is going to be the same situation McCoy was in there.

Yea, no way McCoy is there much longer. Shurmur is huge on Weeden.

I like Weeden a lot more than McCoy, I've never been too big on him

this was a great post... the Jag's 3rd rounder was the best, but most of them are spot on.

was very happy with Bills draft. Got the boost at corner, O-line, and a tall receiver. Couple may be starting by the end of the season, at least all will make training camp competitive.

dave wannstedt may not make a good head coach, but i think he is very capable as defensive coordinator
