HBO's Series "Game of Thrones" Discussion

Anyone interested in this new show premiering on April 17th? The previews look pretty interesting and seems to have potential. I'm gonna try it out for a few episodes. Anyone else?

Also, Spence is going to me mad that you made a TV thread. He has sole rights to the creation of all TV show specific threads.

I'm still reading the first book -- it's interesting source material and I'm still not certain whether I like it or not. I suppose it's technically fantasy, but it has next to no fantasy elements (other than the fact that the seasons take years instead of months) to it. Otherwise, the story isn't anything that you couldn't set in any number of ancient civilizations like Rome or Egypt.

I'm looking forward to see how they adapt it.

This isn't anything like 300

More along the lines of Lord of the Rings

I'm looking forward to this one. I never finished the first book. It's sitting around the house somewhere - think I got side tracked with something. Anyhow, curious to see what HBO does with it and I think that there is potential.
Just read that the spent 60 million on it for the 10 episodes.

This'll go 2 seasons tops and then stop because it's too expensive ala Rome and Carnivale.

I saw a glimpse of this preview the other day and thought it was Lord of the Rings

Did anyone watch last night? I think they've handled the source material well so far. I watched some of the behind the scenes clips on demand - those were interesting also.
