As far as guests, check out NYE 82, the third set has Etta James and Tower of Power. Early/mid 80s is underated IMO.

Hey all, I've just recently been getting into the Dead, and they have amazed me thus far. I've been getting into some of their more popular songs, of which Scarlet Begonias, Franklin's Tower, and Uncle John's Band are my favorites. Can you guys recommend what to listen to, where to look, and how to get more into this amazing band? Thanks to all who reply.

Check out bt.etree.org. There are a ton of shows there and a lot of recent conversions done by Charlie Miller. 1977 and 1978 are a couple of my favorite years. try and grab a couple of shows from then.

Hell yes! That G# riff (badada dat dat dat tadat, badada dat dat dat tadaa) plus Phil taking a solo. Gives me a stiffy every time.
6/20/74 is a good version.

Here's a killer early 80's show. Check out the San Francisco earthquake space.

I had promised myself I wouldn't get drunk and post random Dead lyrics in this thread. I fell off the wagon, again.

Back from page two, shame on you lazy deadheads.
Here's a killer aud from 85, worth the dl. Impromptu Frozen Logger from Bobby due to equipment problems, first Hey Jude reprise, tired old soulful Jerry on Comes a Time. [Only registered users can see links.]

I think Box of Rain might be my favourite song of all time.
