The Handmaid's Tale

I'm going to take a step away from common groupthink that men, as a whole, limit the potential of women, and just say the following:

Imagine if Netflix or Hulu or any streaming service produced a show that villainized women the same way this show villainizes men? Women rounding up a few remaining "useful" men, raping them, and forcing them into reproduction?

Imagine the backlash?

I'm liberal-leaning and I've even gotten to the point where I think the message is getting absurd.

I used to be proud to call myself a feminist, but radical feminism is becoming the new norm and it's getting to the point where men have entirely come under attack and it's being popularized and normalized in media. All in the name of making a few dollars.

What a shit show that isolates half of all the people on the planet as potential rapists and murderers based solely on their gender.

It's getting beyond insane.

I haven't watched the show yet, but I read the book several years ago. As I recall, the critique was much more about power and religious fundamentalism than gender.

Watch it.

It's really about both, but the stronger case being made is that this is what a "man's world" would look like.

Clearly, Hulu feels okay producing a show like this because...Trump. It'll get plenty of eyes and attention. It's absurd.

It's on my list of things to watch, but I haven't been in the mood to dive into something so heavy this week. But I will at some point.
