The rest of the shows I saw in the 90s were sans Tim and I just happen to like that sound better.
dmb hasn't played as a 5 piece in over 10 years. there are so many holes that are being filled these days by the extra members that the others have most likely come to rely on their presence. removing that would probably make dmb sound empty and disabled, certainly in the short term. after much practice i'm sure they could come back around... but i certainly don't think it would be the same sound they had in 95

I disagree, but I also feel like anyone who isn't in love (more than anything they have ever done) with the current DMB gets painted this way. Living in the past, never happy, only wants that sound, etc.

that ebing said, that sound is dead and it is never coming back. In fact, I think it'd be frighteningly bad if DMB didn't have these other people helping to prop them up.

Thinking back to '06, the reason I liked Rashawn all along was because Roi wasn't playing well...i didn't realize this at the time

I feel like the DMB online fanbase is more open to criticism (or criticism is more prominent) than most other band-specific sites, at least the ones I've seen. Are there asses? Sure, but there are asses everywhere.

edit: Also, this probably has to do with the fact that among the great bands, DMB's lows are much, much lower than most.

I'd like Tim and Butch, that would be great. Rashawn can stay.

This fan base is hysterical but a few years back when Tim wasn't around, everyone would have crapped themselves to see him tour regularly with the band. DMB with Tim is DMB . . . just go to the fucking shows that we have left with these guys and dance your ass off . . . this band ain't gonna last forever, so enjoy whatever line up while you can. This fall will be a time we will all remember for a long time

There would be nothing finer than having both Tim and Butch in the lineup together.

I agree, I would like Dave to go back to playing the guitar and coming up with unique riffs, and couple that with good lyrics and this is a huge move for me.

I don't want Tim gone by any means and RR doesn't bother me much either so if he leaves or goes it won't bother me. I enjoy the lineup the way it is knowing that that it will never be the original 5 ever again.

Of course I'm going to count "new" songs. Especially considering Break for It and Black Jack were "written" prior to Tim being w/ the band. So those two Busted Stuff, he doesn't do the bridge to Stay anymore, and I'm sure there are others. But the real thing is that Tim mirrors Dave's acoustic parts in most songs so even when Dave is playing in a lot of cases he's overpowered.

Oh and BTW about Butch - I will never understand the love for ADSR on this board. It's incredible. The song is terrible. It kills the crowd completely.....and I don't like listening to it either....

why does dave need to play on the bridge of Stay anyway? it was originally done with an electric lead on that section and dave only played on it because tim wasn't around.
