Don't think I saw the live tracks available on mine? I may need to go back and check.

Such a random track list. I still want to hear it, though. That’s my number two #40.

So Right - Good version. The quintessential party band song. No Boyd audible - horns seems to be playing all of his parts.
Beach Ball - Seems truncated. Good song, but just a decent and rushed performance. #34 - Wow. Jeff Coffin pouring his soul into this one. Amazing version. We need more 2012-2014 releases. Why I Am - Dave talks a lot about LeRoi and how after he died, Fonz pushed him to finish this song. Minarets - The outro is the highlight, it's not spitting fire like a lot of Minarets outro, but LeRoi has some pretty precise lines and Dave has some improv lyrics. Balanced version. Little Thing - Sweet Dave solo version. Easily one of his most unique compositions. Alligator Pie - I'm not sure about this inclusion. It's a mediocre performance, but I enjoy what Tim is playing. #40 - I hear a slight Build You A House tease before he starts playing #40. An okay version. Rhyme & Reason - God damn, it's been a while since I listened to 7/2/04 apparently. Did not know there was this cool intro! Drunker Soldier - ![]() |

Alligator Pie is an awful song. Waste of a track. How about a live Bismarck?

Agree with Sean on a lot of his assessment here. Love this #34. Jeff is such a master at being subtle and clever when he's left to his own devices.
Dave's vocals on this So Right are pretty rough and he sounds out of breath for most of the song, but still, a really solid performance. Rhyme is definitely a highlight for me. One of the best songs he's ever written and any '04 performance immediately brings me back to that era. Love it. Minarets is ok. I would have picked other performances over this one. You now, just like Dave talking about each song on Come Tomorrow, I just wish for once there would be some snippet to go along with all of these single-song selections for a WH disc or Bonus disc because a lot of the time I'm left wondering why a specific performance was chosen and I don't hear anything truly unique and special. I would like just once if there would be some liner note inclusion, even if it's just a quick line or two as to why that performance was selected. Maybe I'm missing something sometimes, but like...why this Beach Ball...why Beach Ball at all? Seems like a wasted slot. Same with Alligator Pie. I've felt like there have been so many wasted opportunities for truly great performances to have been showcased on WH discs and as Bonus track selections. And it's not like there's not enough to go around. There's enough to fill 20+ more WH and Bonus discs. There have been so many great performances from '92 to now but time and time again we get bizarre selections, performances that don't stand out in any regard, or versions of songs that aren't even that good. Sorry, I know I'm in the minority here (and some may not agree) but it's just been a frustrating thing for me for the last 15 years or so.

For the Almanac, the version of #40 included here is not a Dave solo version. Carter adds some splashes to it.
Also, the "unknown song" before Rhyme & Reason from 7.2.04 is included here. I'd count it as more of a prelude than it's own separate thing. |

I would love some more insight into why these choices are made. I think I always assumed it was by committee or by some random person in their organization, if it actually ends up being closer to him making at least some sort of decision what gets released that's a different lens entirely.

This Rhyme is fantastic. The intro is pretty cool too. Dave strummed a little of kind intentions or it sounded like it
