Sorry man, I've been a bit of an ass the last few days, admittedly. And also in a really crappy mood. My bad man

Not getting many of the comparisons here to other DMB songs. Sounds pretty unique. I personally like it. Also hard for me to tell the lyrics Dave is actually singing.

No, you misunderstood. That's a question Josh genuinely has to ask guys once in a while.

You know non-DMB fans say all DMB songs sound the same? Can't with this one.

The chorus of She is stuck in my head. Guess that's a good thing?

After re-listening AFTER seeing it in Dallas (sound wasn't best in my seats), I still come away with the same thoughts.

Musically, I like it. A lot. Especially the chorus parts. And Buddy kills it on the solo.

I'm not a fan of Dave's initial vocal delivery (sounds off, but then again Dave sounded off for much of the Dallas show - see YNK for just one major example of him completely slaughtering a song...Jeff & Carter both made great "wtf" faces that were caught on the screens during that one). He just sounds, I don't know? Vocally singing the wrong pitch? No idea. I do like the delivery of the chorus quite a bit.

This is why I'm really anxious to hear the studio cut. Have to believe the vocals will be better on that and then hopefully he figures it out live.

Like in Bismarck, it sounds like Dave is mispronouncing 'hypnotize'.

Yeah...of the two nights in Texas, I walked away taking anything heard in Dallas at face value. The people around me all agreed that Dave sounded and acted like he'd dipped into the sauce before the show. A LOT. He was a beat behind on multiple songs. Botched YNK to hell and gone. Sang out of tune on a number of tracks...which makes me wonder if the part of this one that nagged at me was a similar victim to the other songs.

Woodlands was a great show. Dallas was a pretty decent set on paper, and musically was pretty good...but on some songs, it even sounded like his guitar playing was a beat behind. Waiting for a second go-round of this one before passing final judgment. I liked it for the most part...that early vocal delivery just prevented/prevents me from REALLY liking it out of the gate.

Maybe Dave's having a hard time with the Boyd fiasco?

I hear Soundgarden in the verse, and I think it's a well constructed chorus. And, great riff. Anyone else hear a reworked Kill The King to a degree in the chorus?

Like this one so far.

No...it wasn't like slobbering wasted, down in the dumps. It seemed clear from the crowd that he was having a pretty happy drunk, if that's what it was.

And the thing that made me start to think that the people saying that around me were accurate in that assumption was the fact that he got better as the show progressed. The start to the show was the worst...by the end he was doing much better, like he'd sweat it out a bit.

Dear Lord, no. I kind of enjoy moments where they lose a song and then pull it back in together for the "different" moment kind of feel, but I don't know that I'd ever call one of those moments a "best version ever" for a song. They recovered it, but Dave got lost in the rhythm AND lyrics. I wish I'd caught a pic of the screens with Jeff & Carter's faces basically screaming out "fuck...we've got work ahead of us to put this train back on the tracks"
