So just to be clear, this is NOT a Green Day cover?

Itís an indication of just how far the bar has fallen for anyone to compliment a tune. Daveís riffs are no longer inventive. Heís parodying himself at this point. Iím glad Buddy sounds good. But these new songs are awful. If it took six years with multiple producers to come up with this crap, I shudder to think what they wouldíve done on their own.
I do understand where you are coming from, but should we just close up shop? I mean I'm not sure what else the fan base is expected to do at this point. I think 99.9% of TDC realizes that this band is nowhere near who they used to be. They are a shell of their former selves, yes, and I don't think that people are delusional and defending them irrationally. Some people are identifying the positive aspects, while others are pointing out the negatives.

As a fanbase, what are we all expected to do? Is it time for all of us to pack up and move on? Probably not until this album comes out and this tour is over, at least. Buddy might save this tour. It's worth seeing what happens.

Personally, I found new music and bands to fall in love with and it's working out pretty well actually! I don't get pissed about DMB as much anymore because I know that there is other beautiful music out there that makes me happy. I'm not sure if this is the answer for everyone, but it seems to be working for me. I really enjoy coming on here (as TDC is one of my online homes) and chatting with you guys. That's what keeps me going these days.

The look, feel, and sound of this band is better than it has been in a long long time. They seem to be having a lot of fun together and we are getting a lot of fresh takes on a variety of classics. I'll take a few duds here and there if they try to dig into the catalog.

She is the biggest departure so far from some of these lullabies we have been hearing, can they still rock? I wouldn't have thought so... but I dig it.

Take all the complaints when dmb turned into a classic rock cover band for a few years, then subtract the fact that the songs are great songs (someone else wrote) and you get She.
You are an insufferable idiot. Whatever this bandís worst song is, anything youíve ever said makes it Pulitzer worthy.

I’m not losing my mind over the new stuff one way or another. But I am enjoying it overall, and I am very much enjoying DMB 4.0’s sound. A lot. Between the new band sound and the new songs, plus good set variation, I think there is enough going on so far to please everyone on some level.

Its really noticeable how much more “clean” they sound without boyd. Its refreshing, if a totally different thing.

As for She... doesnt really sound like much of a departure even from some of the rock bits of AFTW. Ill reserve judgement to hear lyrics and nuances more clearly.

One thing is for sure... the musicianship on stage is insane. Just hope they keep digging into the catalogue and reinventing.

Raven, with tim taking boyds solo...

Also, now im totally down for Dodo as a hybrid of the studio and D&F versions!

On second listen, I like this a lot. The Pearl Jam thing that Dave initially does vocally is odd. But the chorus is catchy as hell, there’s actually a riff that feels non-generic, and the keys/horns are pretty great at the end.

I like that tune but it would be a lullaby in the DMB setting. Screeching halt. Although it would be entertaining to hear the Periscope bros fail to identify it.

They should do Dodo for sure.

I'm wondering if the studio version has massive horns/orchestra like Squirm had, which is why Jeff and Rashawn were on instagram saying how they don't know how they were going to play She live.

While I don't care for the way he delivers the chorus, the jam at the end of this is not too bad. My opinion, they need to pepper the song with more of those horn fills because it helps drive the groove

That's exactly what I was thinking as well. Hopefully there isn't a Batson key solo on the album cut.

Don’t love this, but can also admit it’s slightly better than I expected. Another one we’ll forget in a year or two but that’s just DMB in 2018. Nothing, outside of the band members themselves and Boyd’s predatory behavior, is timeless anymore.

I mean, guys, She is AWESOME. Best lyrics since Dreaming Tree!

Not much, the riff sounds a little like a reworked Break Free. But you can also say the riff of Grey Street is a reworked Tripping Billies, so take my comment for what itís worth (mostly nothing).
