Things that make you feel like a failure

Iím not talking about your parents or your depression, Iím talking about those little things that make you kinda go ďoh fuck you for reminding me.Ē

For example, ď23 and so tired of life, such a shame to throw it all away.Ē I remember when I turned 24 thinking ďfuck now Iím older than that line and can barely play Free Falliní on guitar.Ē

Or when I turned 31 and was working at a shitty home health company thinking to myself, ďDave was writing Before These Crowded Streets at this point.Ē

Or seeing Bryce Harper drafted as some douche star slugger out of high school and thinking about how I couldnít even get laid when I was 18.

What makes you feel like a failure?

Being really bad at math and not being able to even go to community college. I'm going to be a retail slave my whole life. Or sometime slave working for little money.

Oh fuck y’all have mommy issues too? Could be a separate thread for another day.

My guitar strumming also makes me feel like a failure. I’m entirely self-taught and can learn most chord progressions pretty well at this point...but rhythmically, my strumming BLOWS but I can’t bring myself to hire someone to help me with it at this point.

Also I failed miserably as a college pitcher. I threw fucking hard (90-93 MPH) for a D3 pitcher, but my breaking ball suuuuucked so it really didn’t matter.

I sucked as a D3 college baseball player as well, if that makes you feel any better, and that was a big part of my life back then...ultimately just couldn't hit the curve.

My current athletic failure...I developed a hitch in my golf swing of Charles Barkley proportions. I used to be a decent player, with a smooth swing...took lessons to get better, and developed a hitch. I pretty much loathe playing now, and super embarrassed to play in front of other people...and for the life of me can't get rid of the hitch!

I’ve never actually golfed in my life, but I kinda want to try. Is it common for people to just randomly develop hitches like that?

Another thing that makes me feel like a failure: when Mitch doesn’t and hates on one of my posts. Man Mitch hate is a real kick in the balls.

I love golfing, but I suck at golf. Basically, I find the local courses where the rest of the people who suck at golf go to hit some golf balls, drink a bunch of beers and smoke a cigar or two.....we stay out of the way when there's a decent player rolling through.

I don't think it's that common actually...and Hank Haney (Tiger's former coach) couldn't get rid of Charles Barkley's hitch...

Golf is a fun sport for many reasons, including spending time outside...but it is incredibly harder than it looks, when all you have to do is hit an inanimate ball straight, and it takes an enormous amount of time to play a full round (for people short on time). Having said that you should totally try it if you're interested...can be a great way to spend time with friends, and if you like a challenge it could be fun to work on your game.

I love golf and I'm terrible. I used to be good (for a 13 year old) but I don't play enough to keep my game up.

The only time it's not fun is when you join a group of people that are significantly better than you. Then it just sucks.

But playing with people at a similar skill level to you, with a cooler of beer, is an awesome way to spend a day!

I'm trying to go back to school to get my Master's degree - I'm sure there will be many degrees of failure I have never felt before if I don't make it in this time.

Check out the University of Denver. Thatís where Iím getting close to wrapping up my program and I love it. Also pretty affordable, around ~$30K for the whole program and no GREs. They admit people based more on undergrad GPA and professional experience. Itís also a highly respected institution, I believe itís one of the top 100 schools in the country.

My undergrad GPA is the issue - I had untreated and undiagnosed medical issues that hobbled me the entire time and no support system to recognized that something was seriously off.

I think its a legitimate toss up over if my join date here or my gmail account are older. Both of them beat Facebook by a year or so.

Lob this with UFCK, ASTB & ML and I've been talking to most of you old timers for longer than I have anyone else in my life.

Including ASTB/ufck/here, here is definitely older than my gmail account.

Fuck.

I started a AmI in 2004. May have signed up here and at Ants around the same time. May have posted a ufck or some other dmb board. I really need to reconsider some of my life choices. I really don't want to still be posting here into my 50s.
