It's a nice change of pace and it is from right after their peak, but besides a few tracks I don't see myself going back to this much. Pity it wasn't a spring '02 show

But when I started downloading/seeing the shows in spring 02, it felt like the band had righted a ship that had been off the path. My vote would go to the woodlands show where the encore closed out with a pretty epic lie in our graves. That show has traces of everyday songs in just the right dose given the time, plenty of the busted stuff material, and just a lot of other groovy stuff to fill out the rest of the show, with a unique encore too |

Or maybe huge demonstrative displays of drama when a show that most people haven't heard in 13 years (or never) gets announced, it really just is a bunch of drama?

So after another listen I will keep a few tracks around otherwise won't come back much. That being said it was not as bad of a release as I initially thought it was.
When does the pre-holiday release get announced and when does the next dmblive get dropped? |

UtTaD is going to be a big release. Unless they think its so big it will sell itself anyway, Christmas seems pretty perfect. |

That wasn't an anniversary. It was released like 4 months ago. It wasn't announced *or* released anywhere around the anniversary of the release.

I think because R2T is an album many people don't know existed, they dipped a toe into the water to try to gauge reaction to rereleases. But if they want to make a big Christmas splash, they can promote the 20th Anniversary re-release of Under the Table and Dreaming, with two bonus songs and a vinyl addition! Then they can sell it in Europe on the spring tour and the US on the summer tour. Release something else next Christmas (2015), then the Crash rerelease in 2016, something else in 2017, and BTCS for Christmas 2018. Seems like exactly the sort of thing Coran would do. Unless, again, they think it is a big enough splash standing alone, and they want to use the Christmas sales boost for a more difficult to sell release. But if they were omnipotent, they'd buy a new warehouse with access for Brinks trucks to reverse into the loading dock, then release a special 20th Anniversary bundle of UtTaD with audio of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra shows. |

I read your post as they had released the upcoming one for an anniversary, my apologies.
However, this isn't February 1994. R2T is as known as other albums. It's right there in iTunes, Spotify, and all record stores. We're not talking about an obscure independent release any more. It was released by RCA and has been available on that label for 20 years. |

I realize R2T is on Itunes or whatever. But no one ever talks about DMB's first album, R2T. People remember buying UtTaD and wearing it out in 1994 or 1995. They remember buying Crash or BTCS on the day it was released. I don't think anyone has any memories attached to R2T. R2T has no cultural significance. The big three might get an article in Rolling Stone devoted to them, or a 30 minute special on FUSE or something. They are cultural landmarks. |

They've been releasing shows forever, shows are tied to albums, release party shows, just because we're hitting 20 years, the only time they've ever celebrated any anniversary was doing the Caravan in year 20. I'm not convinced that wasn't post-decision marketing.
They wouldn't use a release date as an announcement date. They'd try to get it released around that area. The only reason I knew the 11.9.93 show was not in a releasable state was because I suggested it as a dmblive to release coinciding with the date. That's just not their thought process. If it does happen in the future, it would be a change. I think if you look at any date and wake up expecting it, you'll be disappointed. |

Do we know for sure that they're planning to continue the reissues for the rest of the albums? I can't think of any reason that they wouldn't, I just haven't seen anything official that this is an ongoing thing. Just curious if anyone has.
