Hmm not sure I agree with that. I suppose it depends on your tolerance for the ladies. There were still some good single song performances in 2005 like 2001, band’s sound wasn’t much different.

Those were my #2 and #3 shows. Saw 8/1 that year as well. Enjoyed all three.

For my shows. Mother Father with Carlos Santana and LIOG with Trey Anastasio.

Overall, the biggest con is the DVD. Butch using his key board to substitute for electric guitar on Watchtower

Pros: My first DMB show.
I had been listening to Listener Supported on repeat for months and was hoping to catch some of those songs. Here's what I got:

Dave Matthews Band
August 10, 2001
The Molson Amphitheatre, Toronto, ON, CAN

Heartbeat Intro »
Pantala Naga Pampa »
Rapunzel
Don't Drink the Water
Say Goodbye
So Much to Say »
Anyone Seen the Bridge »
Too Much
Captain [partial]
When the World Ends
So Right
The Space Between
True Reflections
Big Eyed Fish »
Bartender
Angel
I Did It
If I Had It All
JTR »
All Along the Watchtower
Stay (Wasting Time)
-----------------------------------
#40 [partial] »
Funny How Time Slips Away
Two Step

Been hooked ever since. (Oh, and last time Heartbeat Intro, Stay and #40 were all played at the same show let alone same slots as LS)

Cons: At the time - none. Looking back, the ED song groupings (although So Right was awesome)

Jimi Thing from 6/23/01 (now LT 31) contains the greatest solo Roi has ever laid down on Jimi, in my opinion. It's pure genius and an absolute marvel to listen to. He masterfully bounces around with a several licks and Roi-isms that all seem to fit together perfectly.

I've been meaning to make a post breaking down this solo for a couple years now. Not that I have any technical expertise, but just breaking it down from a perspective of an avid fan and what I hear moment to moment.

It really is great. I'm a '94-'95 Jimi Roi solo guy but that 6/23/01 is big time good. So smooth. He just keeps going and going.

That's a con imo as the best yrs ended in 01
Then again I can see where it is a pro because you don't have the kick ass yrs to compare with and started with a clean slate

I think I actually liked 2005 more than 2001. Mostly because of the Ladies factor and my Randalls shows not being complete turd buckets.

There are like two shows from 2005 where if you listened to the full show you could say "that was a good listen despite the songs." There are like 10 - 15 in 2001 where you could say "that was a good listen despite the songs."

‘05 is terrible. I had a great year with #34 and Red Rocks, but damn was it a shitty tour overall. ‘01 hurt more at the time because it was the first time we had been disapointed, but it has certainly aged better (due to more savage disapointment).
