Good start. A solid, classic 1-2.

Caught DMB at Montreal back in 2001. Oddly, the detail about that night that still sticks out most is I still have the maroon-colored band shirt I bought right before the lights went down. Never listened to the tape, could barely tell you what the set was, but I do remember Dave apologizing for Bush being president.

Just looked it up. Looks OK for 2001.

Don’t Drink and Seek Up are a great opening combo.

Should mention that this Long Black Veil is unique in that it's just Dave & the Ladies.

That is unique. Not sure that I knew that, gotta give it a listen just because of how unique it is.

I'm listening now. I might not have heard this since 2001. It's pretty cool.

I have a soft spot for Ladies on Veil (as long as it stays innocently succinct). This was really the only thing DMB related that my mom connected with. The weekend after Listener came out, I picked her up from Detroit where she was visiting her dad. No memory at all of how she got there. On the drive home she humored me by listening to it with me. She loved it and asked me to play it often. Funny thing is, I think she always thought #40 was part of the song, because I started there every time she asked for it.

I hated them on Long Black Veil back in 2015. Didn’t mind em in 2001.

This is mutilating a dead horse, but it's a shame Dave would rather tear through Sledgehammer x-number of times on a tour as opposed to sprinkling in even a few plays of a Kit Kat Jam, a Broken Things and/or a Cry Freedom as a substitute.

Edit: all too aware of the reality that dropping Sledgehammer for an original would likely mean pulling out more dreck.

Couple quality tour debuts, plus mixing up Christmas Song outside of E1.

Fairly solid main set.

The only thing I have to say about this set is that its looking a whole lot like I'm gonna get Jimi'd at Philly.

There’s still time for a one-song Jimi encore tonight!

Don’t drink/seek up is a power combo to open and the Warehouse/Christmas/rhyme/ants is a nice ending run. Plus a surprise STJL. Not too shabby.

Yeah, I enjoyed this show a lot more than I thought I would. Everyone was in good form. People in the pit with me were good people. Had a better time tonight than I did at spac n1 this summer

Also probably OSW for the 3rd time in a 4 show run 4/6 for the year. Oh and they didn't play Grey Street tonight so I'll be sure to get that one.

You might think I'm complaining but I've just reached the stockholm syndrome fuck it all point with those songs this year. Can't decide if I'm going to do the mv88 again or try out my shiny new Tascam D100m3 at Philly. Either way get ready for a slightly garbage tape that I abuse my Verizon unlimited plan to push up to google drive right after the show.

Kill the King.. I'm glad it's back, it was my favourite of that batch of new songs that year... However it's a bit of a mess right now. To much going on
