I need to pick up some more soundtracks purely for the versatility. Vision Quest would definitely be worth it for Lunatic Fringe (brings be back to the wrestling days), but off the top of my head I'd also like to get Good Morning, Vietnam.

Ugh. I hate going out on Black Friday for anything, but this might be worth it. Do you happen to know how limited these will be?

Same here. Road trips weren't complete without Graceland and Negotiations & Love Songs

Nothing listed just yet, but this isn't the official list, that hasn't been released yet.

btw Monk, I don't know if you saw my post in the General Music Thread:

Paul Simon and Sting to tour together in 2014.
Not official yet from Paul's camp. But the dates were posted on Sting's website and then immediately taken off....

Here are the 'unofficial' dates that were posted on Sting.com:

02.26 - Detroit
02.28 - Montreal
03.01 - Toronto
03.03 - Boston
03.04 - NYC
03.07 - Philadelphia
03.13 - Washington D.C.
03.15 - Fort Lauderdale

Not shown are dates for Houston, where the tour will supposedly start, then to Dallas, LA, San Jose, Seattle, Vancouver, and Chicago before the dates start in Detroit.

I'm starting from scratch and have probably the dumbest question of all time. I need to get a receiver and speakers first and would like to use those for both my tv and listening to vinyl. Does using it for both purposes affect what I should be looking for in a receiver/speaker system?

If you can get one with a built in preamp, it will save you an extra cost down the road when you are ready for vinyl.

I'm thinking about upgrading my record player and getting a Rega RPP1. I've heard great things about it. Does anyone have any experience with them? Here is the info:

I don't know much about that one, but if you like the look of it and want some more options, check out PRO-JECT. I have one and absolutely love it. They also have different tiers, so you can spend as little or as much as you want and still get a nice player. I got one in June and absolutely love it!

I read that tugs player can damage records, since it doesn't allow you to adjust the cartridge weight on the record.

It any case, real excited about being able to listen through headphones. I was planning to sit at a table or desk and just listen to the music from time to time. I may look for a couple of Dead vinyls, but I doubt it'll grow into anything much bigger. Glad to hear it's a good model.
Before you go non-usb... let me share my reasoning for getting it.

First off I believe the price difference is only because of that, yes.
I requested the USB version for two reasons:

1) I'd rather not buy duplicates of things. Most of what I'm buying are old artists and records that I would otherwise not mess with grabbing on iTunes (or aren't even available on digital media). Hearing them in vinyl seems like they'd do a first-listen of a given record justice... hearing it as it was intended to be heard years ago. And experiencing it the way you 'should' (flipping through the gate fold, etc... bottom line, I've never experienced 'new' music like this and our generation I feel is missing out bigtime)

2) Reason 1 being said... I DO like the convenience of having an iPod. Ergo, I got the USB version because eventually I'll probably want to digitally store these older records to be able to listen in the car, at work, etc. Knowing that... an added bonus is the fact that when you rip from vinyl, as I understand it anyway, nothing is compressed like it would be if you bought it on iTunes, so even the digital sound is better.

Example: I've grabbed 3 Dead LPs. One was only released as such for Record Store Day. One I do not own yet but will soon in the Special Edition Vinyl version (One From The Vault... thanks to Crush87) so there'd be no sense in buying it digitally. And the other is a used copy of "What A Long Strange Trip Its Been..." the double album 'Greatest Hits' studio and live compilation that I would otherwise not mess with buying from iTunes due to the fact that I'm buying other Dead stuff on iTunes first.

Even after reading all that, I'd probably still go for the non-usb version. I doubt this will grow into a bigger hobby/collection. Was more of an impulse when I saw LT3 was still available to order and I purchased it to listen to.

Again, thanks for all the input. I hope others weigh in with their thoughts and opinions.

Highly suggest registering on Discogs.com. Just bought a ball-load of Elton John and Aerosmith records among others for dirt cheap.
