Is there any song by Petty that DMB could cover that would potentially sound pretty good?

Runnin' Down A Dream is right in their guitar driven classic rock wheelhouse

I thought we had a Petty thread, because I remembered this discussion we got into in this thread.

Also, fuck Nick.

Really sad about Petty. That sucks. I've never been a huge fan of his music at all, but to see another rock icon fall is never a good thing. And I have always enjoyed It's Good To Be King..one of the few I actually did like.

Spence was clearly ahead of his time.

Absolutely love all of Petty's material. Saw him 3x and enjoyed it each time. He's a big loss for the music industry.

If you all liked him so much it wouldn't have taken his death for this thread to come back.

Sad the man is gone, he was far too young. Just never really cared for his music. Really probably has more to do with me fucking hating Free Falling.

Last Dance with Mary Jane and Runnin Down A Dream are cool. But beyond that I just never really enjoyed his stuff.

For the record, I of course was just joking with the "fuck Nick" comment. To each his own. Plenty of popular artists that I don't enjoy- like U2, can't stand 'em.
