Do you count Bruce Hornsby as a member of the Greatful Dead? He's the first one that pops in my head.

Edit- Nevermind, looks like he's been in Phish side projects, but never actually guested with them.

I never understood why DMB never had an appeal outside the usual fanbase. The most embarrassing thing about DMB for me is their narrow demographic, and it is beyond their control.

yeah, my first thought was Warren Haynes. My knowledge of the GD is very low but I have a few other guesses:

John Popper, Neil (?), Branford Marsalis, Carlos Santana, Jimmy Herring, and Futureman and Victor. And I'm not sure if Willie Nelson has guested with GD or Phish but he would also be a guess.

Copperpot posted this on Twitter. I have no idea how to embed Soundcloud on here.

First set of DMB's 7/14/93 show at the Flood Zone in Richmond. Not currently in circulation.

Received this recently from the taper in MP3. Should be a lossless/downloadable source forthcoming. "Any Noise" from this show has been around as a filler and in MP3 w/o a known date.
Thx to Chris B. (taper) for sharing this.

Anti Noise, OSW, Typical, and Billies are worth listening to. Great Nature intro w/ vocals on Billies.

When Warren did symphonic Jerry, his program notes said he never actually met Jerry.

I'm sorry, somehow it didn't occur to me they had the same initials. I meant Boyd regarding the lawsuit, and Step Into the Light mentions orgies or orgy-ish parties or some such nonsense. It's been over a decade since I've read that book.

I don't either, but it has been a long time since I read it. But I still feel like I'd remember that.

Good guess with Branford.. unfortunately he hasn't played with Phish though. Here's a list of Phish guests: [Only registered users can see links.]

Santana does seem to be one though

Here's a list of some of the GD guests.. I can't seem to find a good comprehensive list like we have for Phish/DMB though: [Only registered users can see links.]

Santana is arguable.. he's guested with Phish but only when Phish has opened for Santana

how about Neil Young? 11/3/91 with GD, 10/3/98, 10/17/98, 10/18/98 with Phish, quite a few times with DMB

Looks like quite a few have guested with GD and DMB but not Phish. How about the Neville Brothers band? I see they appear quite a bit on the Grateful Dead list and I think one of them guested with DMB on WOTR.

Neil Young did all three.

Yes. He had paper out for Stolen Away which is a reason he had the stupid chair. Doesn’t mean he didn’t try it on 04, but I think those songs would have had repeated lyrics if it existed then.

I always thought the chair was to better help him play that particular song? Which I always thought was strange seeing as he plays much more complex cords standing. :shrug

I doubt he would have used it for any of the new 04 songs because of the lyric spontaneity, but I remember him specifically using it for the space between on 6/26...I’m definitely not 100% sure but I’m fairly sure

Yeah on that IEM he says "can I get the lyrics for this one" so I'm pretty sure he used it.

I always heard they used to tape lyrics to the floor sometimes for Dave. Is that also true?
