I think that was just for the vinyl. The digital files should have been fine. It's just laziness and not giving a shit about getting it right.

For the record, my DL card took me to the UTTAD reissue too.

Fucking ridiculous.

There is an alternate source of UTTAD that has been going around for awhile. If I remember correctly, that source's Jimi Thing has an alternate ending; different than the studio release. I don't remember any other major differences but do recall that the disc wasn't mastered like the studio release.

I haven't heard the remastered track but it might be from the other source.

I thought it was like 7,500. With some being held back for dmb to sell on their site after rsd.

I didn't even stop at the store today. I think it's a neat record, but not worth the money to me given my current finances. I'd really only want it because it has the pumpkin cover.

Play it Again Records on 4th Street? If so, we might've just missed one another. Was looking for Xmas presents but didn't walk away anything.

Yeah, probably around Noon or so, grabbed those two and a few used XMas records. Their new inventory and prices are pretty nice but the used stuff is outrageous, hah. Not a bad shop at all. Pretty cool coincidence!

I sent mine on Monday and still haven't had a response yet.

I got this email from musictoday, and don't really have anything solid to send back regarding the tracks. Do you have anything?

Hi Ben,

Thanks for contacting us. I've seen a couple of complaints on this today, and I am trying to find some tangible evidence to send back to the manufacturer. Do you have a way to send us details on the comparison. Any sort of hard data that I can use would be deeply appreciated. If this is the case, we will gladly refund you, or if we discover that the downloads are tainted and the CD version is remastered, we can send that to you for your troubles.

Thanks,

Ed

I got a response from Sony about the Recently download card, but they seemed to have no idea what was going on.

Would make sense, one of the indie sites mentions the bands ow. Site selling a limited number in the future

WTF are they talking about? Can't they listen to the last minute of Jimi Thing from the CD and compare it to their downloads and hear it's not the same thing?

Plus the manufacturer already KNOWS it's wrong.

So I am behind on all of this. My basic understanding at this point is that the vinyl sucks and that the tracks of the album that are currently out are not remastered. Is this correct? Is the album supposed to have been remastered or is it just a rerelease with extra tracks?

UTTAD vinyl/CD re-release 11.24.14 / Recently EP 2 10" LP Pumpkin set for Bla...

Here's the deal as I understand it.

CD is remastered. Downloads from musictoday are not, aside from the three bonus tracks. They're just the same tracks we've always had. The remastered Jimi loses Roi's solo at the end and just has drums and guitar and some ambient sounds. The vinyl is sourced from the CD tracks and not the original analog tapes.

Also, but separately, the Recently download card brings you to the UTTAD tracks.
