Thanks for the tip. Still can't spring for that price, but I'm sure that'll help someone's christmas shopping!

just got an email from dmband.com saying my digital downloads for UTTAD were ready. exact same email as on the release date, no mention of fixing errors. guess i'll download these and see if they are the remastered version. though, if they fixed jimi, i'm not sure i'll be able to tell because doesn't everything sound pretty similar?

No, Roi's sax will be in the outro whereas it was previously missing completely. These should be the corrected files.

well, right, but my original digital downloads weren't the remastered album, it was the normal UTTAD album with the bonus tracks. so now, if they fixed it and it IS the fixed remaster... then roi's sax solo will be there on jimi, and i may have a hard time telling the remaster from the original.

jimi mistake aside, how does the remaster (fixed or not) sound compared to the original? what should i be listening for to go 'a-ha, yep, this is remastered'

No mine were not the remastered album either, but this is definitely the new files which can be seen by comparing the waveforms. I'm at work with a shite PC speakers worth $5 so I won't listen to it until the week-end at the earliest.

Yes you may have a hard time telling the difference, remastering can sometimes yield subtle differences, sometimes it's huge. You may notice slightly different eq, the treble and sibilance may be more pleasant and resolved, bass may be better defined/less muddy, etc., etc.

Everyone's mileage may vary, what's clear is we shouldn't be putting this on and immediately thinking, "fuck, this is way too loud" like you would do when putting on Big Whiskey, or Californication, or the XX remaster of RATM debut, or Death Magnetic, etc.

Yea, Google music has the new tracks. Jimi has the regular outro. Not sure if they are the remastered tracks though

Live Trax Vol. 3 (vinyl) was on there last night and now it's gone? Oh well, $55 + all the charges is pretty crazy.

What a joke...

Received my UTTAD vinyl yesterday and looks like it was number stamped twice.

Originally was stamped No. 17386, now it has No. 16512 over it.

Lack of quality control. Which could be the name of this reissue.

I should have put a typo in there. That would have been more along the lines of this release.

I haven't had time to backread everything, but I gather that they're repressing the LPs with the correct Jimi Thing... any word on repressed CDs? If so, do we need to do anything to get them, or will they automatically be sent out?
