I don’t think it’s trying to compare the albums. I think it’s only goal is to make you feel old.

Seems like Coldplay are trying their hand at Radiohead style marketing. They have posters and such teasing a new album, and their site has been updated to just a logo with the sun and moon. Today people have been getting letters in the mail indicating it's a double album coming on 11/22. Album title is Everyday life, while the two halves of it are titled Sunset and Sunrise.

I dig the "olde timey" feel in the posters I've seen, which have the date Nov 22, 1919 on them with the band dressed appropriately for 1919. I am curious what style the album will be.

Didn’t they at some point say that their last album was going to be their final album? Or am I thinking of someone else.

I’ve been pretty unimpressed with their last two albums, but I’m always willing to give them another chance.

They did hint at that, yes. I never once believed them though. It felt more like they were indicating it was the end of Coldplay 2.0 to me (or maybe even just a way to sell more tickets)

I agree on the quality of their last few few albums, especially the most recent one... which I think is completely bland.

I'm excited for this though, this feels like it could be a new direction creatively. We will see.

Remember when Thom Yorke called Coldplay "lifestyle music"? This new album title reminds me of that. Hopefully the music isn't as banal.

Against my better judgement I've been reading the comments posted on various sites reporting about the Coldplay album. The number of presumably young people that don't understand what the concept of a "double album" is or means, is simply crazy to me. Really goes to show you how different things are now with how music is consumed and appreciated.

Yeah, with how cool the rest of the marketing around this seems, you'd think they could have thought up a better name than that.

I saw Wilco in concert In Birmingham, AL on the night they won their first Grammys. I’ve always liked how nonchalant Tweedy acts toward music awards.

My thing with the Hall of Fame.

I think that if you look at Jack Whites entire body of work, he is a no brainer.

But what does he go in as? White Stripes? Solo? The Racontuers?

Some people are in there multiples times as parts of bands and solo artists.

I like both of them, in the standard ďlisten to the melody not the lyricsĒ way that I usually have to enjoy Coldplay. The Afrobeat thing is interesting. I guess Fela Kutiís son is on that second song, which is pretty cool.
