They did something pretty cool with the mix on this release. They have Tim's wet signal and his dry signal (or the dry signal could be a mic placed up there that doesn't go through his board) both pretty high in the mix. Listen to DDTW and it's pretty evident. Is it that way on the tape? Did they have the dry signal going out to the audience? I've never listened to this show before, always went to 3/14 for some reason.

The mix on Tim's wet is great, but again, I wish it was in mono. Do you happen to know what kind of effects he was using to get those tones? If he was doing that stuff back in '99 with just a delay+looper, plus reverb, that's bonkers. I feel like there's another pedal in play there that gives that underwater feel.

Dry signal = only guitar, without any effects being played. (Dave is almost always dry, with the exception of getting some reverb touches from the sound engineer.)

Wet signal = when the guitar's sound is altered through any type of effect. The more prominent the sound of the effect(s), the wetter the signal. The most obvious example of this on LT41: listen to Tim's tone/guitar at the end of his medley, on Alcaniz (Festiva). That is a very wet signal, so wet to the point where you can barely discern it's an acoustic guitar being played.

I believe wet signal means the sounds you get after Tim plays a part and then puts an effect on it. The dry signal is simply the part he plays with no effects.

Interesting.

So you're saying you can hear both the wet and dry signal simultaneously? Haven't gotten around to listening to the LT yet. Hopefully tonight.

Exactly! They are both panned left so it is pretty easy to pick up if you listen carefully. It stood out to me at first with DDTW. It is really cool.

I wish I knew, I've never understood what the hell he is doing up there.

Really? That was a popular Napster download back in the day. Love that tune.

It's also on one of the few D&T shows that's been officially released.

Seriously, I don't really listen to D&T shows, they're a little too boring for my taste.

Post '99, I'll give you, but I'd put the best shows from '96, '97 and '99 up against almost any DMB show.

He's always had a volume pedal for swells.
