On first listen I will say I am a bit disappointed. Ive been listening to half these songs live for quite some time and was hoping to hear a new source of the song, but very VERY similar. Not necessarily making it a bad album just had really high hopes. Maybe a bit unfair. Still enjoy the songs

I've listened to it a few times now and I'm extremely happy with the end product. I think it's pretty obvious they stuck to the same basic formula that's made them popular, slow intro, big build up, catchy lyrics, solid musically with love being the main theme in a lot of songs. I'll agree that they didn't change much on the songs that they have been road testing, but I don't blame them for it. People, including myself, really dug them so what's the point of changing them.

I do think Below My Feet is much better on the album than it is live at least when I heard it which was when it was fairly new. I just feel a lot more emotion on the album version.

I know their cover of The Boxer isn't new, but I think it deserves repeating, they absolutely nail, it's so damn good.

Looking forward to this next week. My sister purchased a pre-order for me for my birthday. I'm gonna wait for the disc before the first listen.

It's definitely not that similar, I think people are mistaking their style being the same for the album/song structures being the same.

The 1st to 2nd album transition kind of reminds me of Counting Crows.

Not too sure about this one. It will have to grow on me I think. A lot of it doesn't sound like they progressed with their sound except for Lover of the Light.

Both first albums feel acoustic, more poetic and raw. Second albums both more in your face and louder. In my opinion at least.
