So there’s a huge Halloween 40th anniversary convention in Pasadena next weekend and I’m going. I’m pumped. I’m bringing ALL of the shit with me (two different original one sheets, a “Creep” ‘78 Myers mask (Google it), a Mondo Myers print, etc. I’m gonna geek out hard and I give no shits about it.

ooooooooh, I couldn't decide which theater to go to, so if it's a good movie, might have to see it in the Dolby as well.

I prefer Dolby. The theater I go to the Dolby screen is practically as big as their IMAX one, and the sound is literally the best possible way to hear a movie. It blows me away every time.

I loved Stefani in A Star Is Born. Took my lady to it yesterday. I was quite pleased with Bradley’s direction and almost every performance delivered in that movie. Before I rate it, I should see it again, but I was quite moved

Nice to see Sam Elliot and Dave Chappelle as well. Went into this without reading a thing.

New Halloween thoughts after seeing it on Friday. Slight spoilers.

Spoiler:
It’s laughably bad. It’s been overhyped, the reviews are way off base, and it doesn’t come close to touching what made the original so good. Everything about this movie from a marketing standpoint painted a picture that doesn’t at all accurately reflect how the film actually is; big time misdirection being put out there to fans.

There are a few moments of ingenuity (the first 1/3 is good), but also a lot of terrible dialogue, pacing issues (I thought it was very poorly directed and at times is shot and edited like an action movie), over-emphasis on Michael being “human,” and one AWFUL plot twist with one of the worst characters ever introduced to the franchise. Too much humor (much of which is bad), lacks the “slow burn” and atmosphere of the original, and way too many shots of, like, Michael without his mask on (all side shots and stuff, but they wayyyy overdo it).

2.5/5 for me, and only because the teen actors were all actually really good and the first third set things up nicely. Once Michael gets to Haddonfield, it becomes a clusterfuck. Many that just love gore and, like, weed jokes will love it, but hardcores across the board, including myself, were way underwhelmed. I saw it in a theater full of hardcores and you could hear a pin drop when the credits started. And Malek Akkad was sitting right there with us. Lots of talk afterwards of “not at all what I was expecting.” Embarrassing. It’s extremely cheesy and went way too far with the “artistic licensing.” What a monumental letdown.

That's too bad. At least it looked like you had a good time meeting all the people involved with the original and whatnot.

I hate that I have way more free time to see movies now, and I had to cancel MoviePass because it became worthless

Really want to see "A Star is Born" and "First Man" ASAP

As a huge fan of his I'm excited for this - especially because it actually looks good. I love the Lithgow casting, and Gage looks friggen identical to the original.

I always think of South Park's version of the Jud character when I think of Pet Sematary now and chuckle.

But yea that looks good, excited for it.
