I guess the only tip would be, have a good circle of friends at work that can always watch your back. Have them stay within earshot of all conversations to.
Yikes. Yeah, that's the bizarre thing about employment in america....you need proof.

welp pending a background check (i hope that speeding ticket I got when I was 19 doesn't come back to bite me) I'm gonna be the Front Desk supervisor at a Hampton Inn in downtown Louisville. $3 more an hour and I'm being put straight into the Manager training program.

when I put in my notice my boss didn't offer me any more money to stay, he basically just said my new hotel stinks and I shouldn't work there.

so today the Director of hotel operations called me into his office. This is the same man that I gave my notice to and had a 20 minute conversation with him about it.

He wanted to interview me to be the front desk supervisor at the Seelbach. I just flat out said "I'm not interested". He asked me why. I said "My front office manager scheduled me for an interview for that position 3 times, and blew me off each time. I'm done. I don't want to work for him anymore, and I'm sticking with my 2 week notice."

and then he said he didn't know what I was talking about and had no idea I was leaving...

yeah it's crazy. Pretty much everyone I know that works there (except for the part timers) are actively looking for new jobs. There is going to be a mass exodus pretty soon. It's gonna be ugly.

I post this only to describe my work ethic (and need for money).

Read my past posts. I'm pissed about the way I've been treated.

But I still remember a work review I received at Panera Bread 10 years ago. My boss sat me down to thank me for being so reliable. I was confused. If I'm scheduled to show up for a shift I'm gonna be there. Yeah everyone has their occasional mishaps (oversleep, sick, car won't start, ...) but since the day I got my first job at 16 I was always going to show when i was scheduled. She just said "you have no idea how hard it is to find people that will actually show up"

I just said "well. You've never met my mother. I'm 25 and totally independent. But if you ever ran into her and told her "oh ryan's cool but he doesn't show up on time or anything like" she'd probably slap the shit out of me". My mom always said the thing she loves about me most is my work ethic. I'd rather work 6 jobs than take a handout (I have no kids so it's easy for me to say)

so I quit my job, because I fucking hate it.

I put in my notice, my last day is the 25th. My boss just texted me and asked me to work tomorrow. No idea what the situation is. Just needs someone.

I said yes. I agreed to pick up a shift at a job I already quit.

Sometimes just the weight of a job being off your shoulders makes it easier to go and do. Enjoy the last shifts and move onward and upward!

I work with college students and I'm having issues with 2 or 3 right now that are almost entirely hygiene related. I'm pretty easy going overall and have a reputation at work of being EXTREMELY patient with students. But I have 2 or 3 right now - adult women - that are really making it hard. There are some other issues at play here (probably on the autism spectrum, although nothing has been articulated to me by them or other administrators), so it's not exactly the same as a typical 19 year old sophomore who is simply choosing to not shower.

When the odor is so thick is fills an office, it's really difficult to provide one-on-one counseling/coaching. I don't know if it's their hair, body, clothing or some combination of it all, but today has been particularly thick.

Just needed to vent no pun intended.
