2018 Fall: Show 2 - 11-29-18 Set Picks/Discussion (Madison Square Garden | New York, NY)

2018 Fall Tour: Show #2
11/29/2018
Madison Square Garden
New York, NY

Show Begins @ 8:15 pm EST

Spoiler:
Madison Square Garden, colloquially known as The Garden or in initials as MSG, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the New York City borough of Manhattan. Located in Midtown Manhattan between 7th and 8th Avenues from 31st to 33rd Streets, it is situated atop Pennsylvania Station. It is the fourth venue to bear the name "Madison Square Garden"; the first two (1879 and 1890) were located on Madison Square, on East 26th Street and Madison Avenue, with the third Madison Square Garden (1925) further uptown at Eighth Avenue and 50th Street.

The Garden is used for professional basketball and ice hockey, as well as boxing, concerts, ice shows, circuses, professional wrestling and other forms of sports and entertainment. It is close to other midtown Manhattan landmarks, including the Empire State Building, Koreatown, and Macy's at Herald Square. It is home to the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL), the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA), and was home to the New York Liberty (WNBA) from 1997 to 2017.

The Garden opened on February 11, 1968, and is the oldest major sporting facility in the New York metropolitan area. It is the oldest arena in the National Hockey League and the second-oldest arena in the National Basketball Association. In 2016, MSG was the second-busiest music arena in the world in terms of ticket sales, behind The O2 Arena in London. Including two major renovations, its total construction cost is approximately $1.1 billion, and it has been ranked as one of the 10 most expensive stadium venues ever built. It is part of the Pennsylvania Plaza office and retail complex, named for the railroad station. Several other operating entities related to the Garden share its name.

I’ll be happy if this is even half of what last nights show was. I just know there’s so many crap songs that will inevitably rear their head, I just hope with 2 nights they space those out and instead of cramming them down our throat on N1. They have to be aware that most people aren’t doing both due to the Thurs/Fri

Can we just, like, ban "cramming down our throat" as being considered a valid description of a band playing songs at a concert that we chose to pay for?

And these are the same people whoactively seek out shitty periscope feeds of every show to watch in their free time as well. Dave’s never showed up at my house to cram anything down my throat.

Would you prefer force feed?

I don't know, I sure feel like it. I paid DMB 57 times since 2000, and have seen Grey Street 35 of those times. They've figuratively crammed that one down my throat, really hard, 20 times in the last decade.

The first show built up my expectations a bit, which is dangerous. Here’s what I’m realistically expecting, best case:

The Stone
One Sweet World
Do You Remember
You Never Know
Break Free
#41
What Would You Say
Samurai Cop
Sweet Emotion >
Minarets
Can’t Stop
If I Had It All
Crush
You and Me
Cornbread
She
Best of What’s Around
Ants Marching
—————————
Kill the King
Watchtower

I don’t see them repeating that many songs from the tour opener. I know it’s a different venue, but I think some of the stuff that we saw debuted last night is going to hit the shelf. I don’t see the band playing STDH or KTK in “rotation” for this tour, hope I’m wrong though cause I’ve never seen either of those live. That being said, I’d be pretty happy with that set.

Well Warren Haynes will be in NYC in a couple days, maybe he'll join Friday? Eh, I thought this about the LA show and was dead wrong so who knows. I just figured Warren and he band have quite a history in NYC.

Unpopular opinion but I don't really care for Xmas Song. It's perfectly fine but doesn't really do anything for me.
