I always thought that the first version they every played would be a perfect studio cut of this song.

Was thinking about this song just yesterday. I did enjoy it. An '06 version of this needs to be released someday.

I compare this song to any first-pick NFL draft bust. A whole lot of promise that never went anywhere.

of course, the promise was only ever in the musical side of things... i've never enjoyed a single thing dave did with this vocally.

this.

well put. this song will only ever take off if dave decides to sit down with it and actually think about what might serve the song well. if they're only ever going to bring it back for shits and giggles and a few people clamoring for it, and therefor choking their way through it on the tails of dave's wretched screaming... No thanks...

So much potential lyrically with that first performance.

I recently noticed I haven't gone out of my way to listen to this song in about three years. Even after catching it again at Deer Creek in 2009, wasn't crazy thrilled or anything. There's been one or two versions I really liked at points in time for awhile, but most versions aren't great or anything. Plus, I really feel like maybe this was my standard for what "great DMB" could be (despite still being a cut-and-pasty half-finished song), during that whole 2005-2007 period - which is much lower quality than 80% of the songs they came up with for BW.

Has a lot of potential, needs good lyrics really really bad. Thats the first thing. Structure could be arranged differently too. The guitar parts are awesome and I like what everyone does in the song, but the lack of clear melody, lyrics and structure makes it drag on..the summer '07 version we got is the best? It's basically just Dave yelling random shit the entire song. It just needs more time to develop.

i like butch shotgun more than tim shotgun. could correspond more with how dave decided to ruin the song toward the end of its run, but i still think it needs the piano on it.

Same with the '06 Warehouse released on the Best of What's Around compilation. SPAC had the best Warehouse of the year, but they put the Alpine one on.
