Live Trax Vol. 56: Molson Amphitheatre - 08.10.2001

From the Warehouse store:
Quote:
This 2001 DMB performance from Toronto is the bandís first Live Trax release out of Canada. From the very first pulse of the heartbeat intro to Pantala Naga Pampa and Rapunzel and all the way to the last beats of Two Step, this show offers solid renditions of songs off the new album, Everyday, as well as road tested gems like JTR and Say Goodbye. The Lovely Ladies' extra vocal power elevates the performances throughout and specifically on Don't Drink The Water and Stay (Wasting Time).

Disc 1:
1 Pantala Naga Pampa>Rapunzel
2 Don't Drink the Water
3 Say Goodbye
4 So Much To Say>Anyone Seen the Bridge?>
5 Too Much
6 Captain
7 When the World Ends
8 So Right

Disc 2:
9 The Space Between
10 True Reflections
11 Big Eyed Fish>
12 Bartender
13 Angel
14 I Did It
15 If I Had It All

Disc 3:
16 JTR
17 All Along the Watchtower
18 Stay (Wasting Time)
19 #40
20 Funny How Time Slips Away
21 Two Step

Would have been very cool if they put the Lift Me Up Light soundcheck on the release.

Figures, I've been waiting forever for a Toronto Live Trax and they pick the show from the year before I started going to shows.
They should have included Light Lift Me Up as a bonus track.

I've heard the tape before though and this is still a good show. BEF > Bartender, Say Bye, JTR and Two Step are all great. Nice to have a good version of Funny How Time Slips Away on a release too.

Last Thing we need is a Ď01 release but at least this is a pretty good set for that tour

Expected ship date is July 13 FYI

Couple bummer notes:
- Captain is just Dave solo playing about 40 seconds of it.
- Heartbeat Intro isn't what you think it is. It's pretty short, pretty mellow, and Roi doesn't play on it, essentially defeating its purpose.

Kudos to them for picking a show with such a different setlist than LT31. You'd think on an album tour it would be pretty similar, but none of these songs appear on LT31:

Heartbeat Intro > PNP > Rapunzel
Don't Drink the Water
Say Goodbye
So Much to Say > ASTB >
Too Much
(Captain)
Big Eyed Fish
Bartender
Angel
I Did It
If I Had It All
(#40)
Funny How Time Slips Away
Two Step

There’s a handful of 2001 shows I’d like to hear fully mixed, but this isn’t one of them.

I am also surprised this was announced so quickly after the release of LT 55. I feel like usually there is a couple month gap, but this one came out quickly.

Maybe getting it out of the way before the tour starts.
I half-expected them to release a vinyl of ED this year, which would have made sense to package with this. Seems like they're done with the vinyl studio anniversary releases though.

So if I'm counting right we will now have as many full band show releases from 2001 as we do from 2000.

Yeah, that sounds about right from this band's management.

Well DMB didnt release it, but the Soldier's Field 6.30.00 show was released as well so there are technically 4 shows released from 2000.

True but most are on Live at Folsom Field.

Unfortunately, this is a pass for me.

I've listened to it and choose to ignore its existence. That release sounds dreadful honestly.

This is a pretty good show, with a few of the 2001 anchors I don’t need need to convince anyone about. The heartbeat is super jazzy.

Is this right? On the Almanac it says the intro was about 5 minutes long and had Roi playing on it.

Honestly we didn’t populate that by adding everyone to every track individually. When we added personnel it was done in bulk. Boyd left the stage for Lover a lot in 99 and 2000, but we don’t exactly which, so he’s still on them because again done in bulk.

I don’t remember Roi not playing on it, but I’ve heard it two or times and not in a while. So it’s possible. I just remember it being jazzy.

Man, saw live trax vol 56 and molson on the forum preview and got so excited. Thinking possibly 4/21/02 or 11/16/98. Wrong venue, and wrong province. Shiiiit.

I just listened to the tape and the intro takes its time getting going, and then it's basically Butch noodling, then they just kinda fade it out. It was the first time they played Heartbeat that year (1 of 2 times), which explains why it's not all that it should be.
