This is what worries me the most. Part of why I highly disliked CT was that both felt and sounded like a Dave solo album. The full band weren’t involved heavily on many of the tracks and when they were they had super subtle parts or were buried in the mix.

I guess what I’m saying is that they didn’t capture the uniqueness of each band member, the horn parts, guitar parts etc all could have been any player, they didn’t utilize the talent they have. If Dave recorded that album with any other backing band you wouldn’t know the difference. Not to mention there were at least 3-4 tracks that didn’t even have other band members on them at all. I don’t want a “DMB” album that has 4 Dave solo songs with some orchestra behind it.

How is that acting like he owns the band? Dave and Stefan have already discussed the album a few months ago.

I am hoping the orchestra strings are used more like Squirm and less like Here on Out.

As a song I like it. As a DMB song I don't. Because it truly isn't one.
It was nice to see several band members in the photo yesterday, because it gives me hope the strings are being used for full band songs.

hasn't it really only ever been a dave solo song? (with occasional performances with tim and maybe some strings here and there?)

Yeah, I'm just saying as a song on a DMB album, I don't really like it. I'd like them to stop putting essentially solo songs on these albums. Don't like this trend which has been part of the past 3 albums.

Just when I was getting kind of excited about hitting up a show this tour, hopes dashed. This album will be peak dad rock, and probably heavily political.

No offense here, but what do you expect from a 30 year old band? Will you be surprised if you end up being right?

I expect them to be a nostalgia act and dig into their catalog to pay back their hardcore fans that have suffered through their shitty new material the past 20 years.

Don't Drink the Water
Seek Up
Beach Ball
New Song
Why I Am
#41
New Song
You Might Die Trying
Sweet Up and Down
Grace is Gone
New Song
Jimi Thing > (new cover)
Come Tomorrow
Sugar Will
New Song
What Would You Say
Stay
____________
What You Are
Ants Marching

Overplayed hits + New Songs + a few rarities

Would have been a good Some Devil song. A DMB song it is not. And Dave couldn’t find a way to make 3/4 of those Some Devil songs DMB tunes. Would have been a great DMB album. And by great, better than anything they’ve done since 1998 plus or minus a couple tunes.

I don’t think that’s entirely on Dave...the band eventually played like 40% and could easily play more.

Allow a trusted, QUALIFIED someone to push you to work harder without threat of being fired, stop copy/pasting/programming, no more Dave solo bullshit on a full-band record. Achieve these and you have a fighting chance.

There will be a song called Chipped. Stefan says it will go straight into our veins.

Even this is a bit too optimistic. If thatís per the course I can handle that. But I think that will be one of the better shows.
