They did it once before. Well, sort of.

While I like Songs of Innocence, I adore Songs of Experience. Think it's a more diverse sounding and thoughtful album.

Still hoping for Songs of Ascent someday.

Oh how I miss turning on my phone and a picture of a naked man is showing because I had zero clue how to remove that shit from iTunes.

According to a poster on Ants, a source has heard a nearly finished version of Bismarck. Hope this turns out to be true. Too good of a song to languish on the shelf.

I hope it's the version they were (probably) already working on with Cavallo and just needs some final touches.

That’s the thing. It’s already cut and in the archive. I hope it’s on this album as well but I don’t think they’d reach backwards for tracks especially when we know the band showed up. So if we get it, it’s be a new recording which is even more unlikely. Having heard a fullish version might not mean anything other than hearing what we know already exists.

I’m putting chances of Bismarck on the album in any form at under 10%.

Yeah, I feel like it's not likely. Also, the comments on that Ants thread about two older songs being on the new album are because people skipped around on this new Tim interview and misinterpreted a comment about TR3.

By the way, if you have not seen it, it's worth all 46 minutes of your time. But if you want to skip to where he does mention the new album, that's at about 17:40. He mentions 11 tracks that were just Dave and Carter and that they sounded huge before Tim and Buddy added their parts to it.

I’m not quite sure what it says about the band (if anything at all) that Tim could not remember the name of the album come tomorrow, lol.

That said, I get the feeling from this interview that the album will have another Dave solo feel to it, with the band coming in separately to record their parts. Probably will be another tight effort, with little to no jamming. Not necessarily a bad thing if the songs are good.

pretty sure leroi once commented that he never paid attention to the lyrics of the songs. i don't think it matters at all.

From a reliable source on Ants.

Based on what I have been told and can relay:

- New album in 2021: 100%

- Bismarck to be included: Source heard close to or finished recording so he expects it to be on new album.

- Single prior to Raleigh tour opener: Was told "very likely." Similar to 2012 and Gaucho release prior to TX shows.

I have never heard Bismarck before. If it's a good tune, I welcome it on the new album!

I feel like Bismarck lacks melodic continuity. It feels like a bunch of ideas cut and pasted together.

Interesting. I always thought it flowed nicely. Good build up. I could see them cutting one of the choruses though, like they did with Black and Bluebird.

No solos, but you can definitely hear the out of tune violin throughout this version.
