As I said earlier, I think you could argue it either way.

12.8 doesn't get enough love anymore. The second or third best show from that week is still better than 98% of the shows they've done.

I think 12/7 edges 12/3 as well. I think if the tapes were of equal quality then more people might share this opinion.

Both shows are right up there. I prefer the flow and the setlist of 12/3 but would gladly take both as future livetrax releases.

I think this is an important point as well. The tape we have for 12/7/98 is mediocre at best while the 12/3/98 is the best tape of the tour (not including the 12/8 Live Trax of course).

I mean 12/3 did have better in-tune Boyd at times - but I just don't think that it compares with the level of energy that 12/7 has. And I really think the best setlist of the 98 winter tour, with the best guest list etc...

Agreed - too bad we don't have a really good tape of this show as well. . .

A good outlier is 11/28/98. For something different, I think it's the only show in this run without Tim and does have Bela, Jeff, and Butch.

12/19 (LIc) should get more love. Incredible show and release. Trying to argue best show of 12/98 is just impossible imo, you canít go wrong with any of them. Just one of those magical months where they were just on fire every night

Pretty much any of the shows from this tour kicked ass, in particular the last few on Nov-Dec but that’s what happens when you don’t have duds in the mix , be it covers or originals

Yeah... That's a great show... I love BOWA in the 5+Tim config.

10/29 is the one recently that's been on repeat.

I love listening to the progression show to show. There's so much goodness across the tour...

11.21.98 was my 3rd show. It was fantastic, there were some flubs on spoon, but it was really cool to see it live.

The show ended with a 27 minute #41 with most of the Flecktones that was pretty epic, but there was definitely some confusion in the crowd wondering if it was really the end of the show. Dave approached the mic towards the end as if he was going to say something or go into something else, but wound up walking away. I recall there being speculation that there was going to be another song but he decided to end it since a chunk of the crowd had left during the jam. I'm skeptical that was actually the case.

yeah that show looks wild on paper, what an encore. No setlist scan available of that, but chances are they probably had a 3rd song planned but since #41 went way longer than expected they probably were up against curfew and decided to cut it. They've never ended an entire show with 41 since, main sets yes but not encore so that's my guess.
