I wasn't in fully on Gaucho until they reworked it in '13 but they only played it a few times and haven't played it in nearly a decade. One of the few songs that Ross fits rather than sounding like an unnecessary add-on.

What did they do to change it in 13?

They added a little Rashawn solo in the bridge, and energized it a bit. See the Live Trax 6.1.13 version.

There's a good deal of space left in the arrangement. Wouldn't mind hearing a little banjo plucked in those crevices!

If the whole album's lyrics are of the quality of Walk Around the Moon, Ocean & the Butterfly, and Singing From the Windows, I'll be very happy. I'm not blown away by these lyrics or anything, but they're varied, evocative, and devoid of cliches, cheese, grossness, or repetition.

Ok that was bad, but you try naturally working that one in to a sentence.

I’d be just fine with an album of songs written together, where the lyrics aren’t so bad that they distract from the arrangement. That’s where we are with DMB. Based on things heard so far, maybe the arrangements are a little more sparse? Jeff has been pretty mellow on the 2 flute solos, which to me indicates it’s probably pretty sparse and happening on a fade out or something on record.

Iím sure the majority donít like it, but I enjoy the 50s feel of Ocean and the Butterfly. I love songs from that era. This song would work well with a big band type arrangement. Curious to see what the studio version sounds like but I could picture listening to this sitting outside on a hot night out looking at the water. Maybe itís the water theme but makes me think of songs like beyond the sea.

I think it’s way too derivative of Blue Moon specifically but also the bridge is standard Dave needing a bridge and playing a variation on a scale. It’s fine at both best and at worst.

Yeah, the horns especially in the full band arrangement definitely reminds me of something from the 50s or 60s. I dig it.

Thought the sameÖI have to think there is a string arrangement on the album for this tune.

He can do way worse. Its like Oh - pleasant if you havent heard it in awhile, and short ebough to be inoffensive. At least theres a neat little horn part in there.

I love this. Make it a little bit longer.

Singing from the Windows should be Dave and an orchestra. After all, he wrote the song by himself after the lockdowns began in America.

I don't think I'm following the logic here, gweeps.

I mean thematically it would suit the studio track if Dave were the only band member on it.
