I know it’s not as sexy as the X, but I upgraded to an 8 today. After weighing it out, I just decided that the X is more phone than I need right now to justify that price. That screen sure was tempting, though. Anyway, upgrading from a 6S, the 8 feels like a big leap forward. This new chip set is seriously impressive.

That's how I felt last year when I upgraded from an iPhone 5 to an iPhone 7 Plus. It was like night and day.

I bought an iMac Pro. My Apple friend helped with a discount. $5k for a computer is nuts, but I figure I could sell it in a year and break even. It arrives next week

Well there you have it:

I'm calling BS on Apple's reasoning. They totally want people to buy their latest devices.

I totally agree with you, but I also have 100% confidence that all the phone manufacturers are doing some form of the same thing.

I agree with you as well. I'm sure that they are all doing the same thing. This is why I refuse to upgrade my iPhone 7 Plus to IOS 11. I paid a lot of money for it to be slowed down so soon.

I didn’t notice a significant slow down in processor speed when I updated my 6S to iOS 11, but it absolutely destroyed my battery life.

Most of Apples profits are iPhone sales. They must convince people to upgrade or their stock will tumble big time. I think the bigger thing is they add a ton of features to every iOS release that they know will run slow on older hardware.

My 6 takes about 8 seconds to open most apps

Wife’s 6S opens them immediately

Both on latest version

I haven't upgraded my 6s for this exact reason

Apparently Apple is being sued over this now.

I’m really sensitive to the speed changes. I always buy the latest phone for that reason. Don’t care about the better camera etc. iPhone 6S would drive me bonkers

I'm happy with iOS 10.3 on my iPhone 7 Plus. I don't need iOS 11 at all.

My brewery has a program where you can sign up to come in and brew a batch of our beer with us. Basically you pay $150 to come in and do most of my job for me. Anyway, we’ve got one today who is a mechanical engineer on iPhones for Apple. I’ve been working on him all day, but all he’ll tell me is that he’s working on something for 2019.

Everything is on a need-to-know basis. He might be working on a small component of the iPhone but what will only know what he needs to know to complete his job. He might not even know if what heís working on is for an iPhone

He definitely said it was the iPhone. He told me that his team was responsible for “making it all fit.” I didn’t actually think I was going to find out anything, and he was obviously used to people messing with him about it.

Yeah, that was the joke. All he was telling me was that he was working on next year’s model.
