I don't know. Seems like they said "fuck it" to that a few years ago. Obviously a D/T ampitheatre tour has no presidence so maybe.

I mean, are they really going to play ampitheatres and only present two hours of music?

I really don't think they're going to play ampitheaters. If they did they would need an opening act or co-headlining act at the minimum I would think. That would shock me more than CVille not being released.

And yes they are 10000% playing amps this summer.

Really wouldn't be too thrilled about that. I think the crowds would be awful. But if they go back to having openers, it makes sense. We'll have to see I guess.

What kind of opener would they even have. You can't bring head and heart out and then follow up with an acoustic show.

If they do this. It should be done with no lawn seats sold. But. No way.

They would have to do a similar act. Maybe a better known artist and have them open / co bill for the whole tour. Emmy Lou? Tracy Chapman. Could be done. A bigger name artist catering to an older crowd would go a long way to thinning out the douche crew.

Didn't the Head and the Heart open the 2010 Seattle and VEGAS d/t shows?

A co bill would make the most sense. Emmy Lou would make sense, but would she be a big enough draw? And at that point you'd have more than half of D+F there, just do a D+F tour.

I think they could do that with some success, three different co-headliners over the tour one for east coast one for Midwest, one for west coast. Willie Nelson could be an option, maybe jack Johnson, something along those lines.

Neil Young if you were going to do a co headliner thing. I saw him in worcester solo acoustic a few years ago and it was unreal. But thinking of all the people in dave's orbit, you come up with some solid options.

Neil would be great, and we know Dave and Tim are big fans. Anyone that Dave plays with at Farmaid, anyone involved in that circle would probably go over well as a co-headliner. I still hope they're considering theaters, but I suppose those aren't popular "summer" venues. I'd rather them wait until the Fall and do a theater tour personally. Maybe use the summer to record, write or whatever else Dave wants to do.

I've caught a number of great openers over the years (Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Avett Brothers, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Neil Young & Crazyhorse, Guster, OAR, Soulive, North Mississippi Allstars to name a few not even getting into some of the more fun Caravan acts). I miss having an opener...and the possibilities of guesting that openers provided.

They could aim for smaller amphitheaters (like the PNC Pavilion that they build right next to Riverbend a few years ago. It's basically just the pavilion without a lawn). Personally, I've enjoyed the more intimate theatre settings for my past D&T shows. The only one that I didn't care for as much was the Chicago Caravan show (even though the set was pretty decent) mainly because the sound didn't come across quite right with the bigger, outdoor space, allowing the huge crowd of wasted people to overtake the music.

You know, like the door stops. It just sits there. Doesn't even hang. You can flick it, and it just makes the noise "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring".

They DID play with Jack at the kokua festival. Maybe he'd be on board? I could see that working, even if the brought a band along, because his sound is still on the quieter level even with the backing band.

Wonder if they tried for a weekend show or two after the TX shows and couldn't pull it together?
