Just got mine in from Brian, he said it was his last one.

Now the inner struggle begins as to whether or not I open it and play it.....

Thanks for the tip!

Definitely open it and play it.

If you're worried about reselling it one day, vinyl holds it's value if you take care of it. Sure, not as much if it were unopened, but come on.

A smart vinyl buyer - not collector - prefers an "open" but "near mint" record to a sealed copy.

A sealed (out of print) record could have flaws/warping that you can only see/hear once its been open and spun. The "inner" sleeves could be split/torn.

If you buy a "sealed" record that is out of print, and it has flaws, you're stuck with a flawed record.

IMO - no one selling a "sealed" record can grade the actual vinyl - only the outer cover/sleeve.

Find me a NM/NM opened and cared for record - and you'll get closer to top dollar than a "sealed" record that could have lots of surprises inside.

What he said. Although I still see sealed copies of things go for more than opened. But I agree, I'd rather buy a record I can actually inspect.

I've got around 450 vinyl records, I've played them all at least once.
