Put on Veneta 72 for probably the first time in over a year. This Bertha smokes. Jerry around the 2:30 mark and on. Love the little licks and fills hes throwing in between lines. Then he comes flying in with a ripping solo. So good.

So odd that one of the great Dark Stars has Keith completely absent from the mix. With how much he's driving things in Stephen and throughout the rest of the set it makes you wonder what he was doing during Dark Star. It's also odd that you could in essence scrub him from this recording and Dark Star even still stands on its own and then some. You'd think leaving someone out would sound lopsided but nope.

Hey, yesterday I found myself listening to that one as well, via the Relisten app.

Happy 1st of 30 Days of Dead 2018 btw...
Starting out with a China>Rider is always a good thing.

my favorite DP and also my favorite Dark Star. Just an amazing set of music with almost flawless transitions.

the NFA>GDTRFB>NFA transitions are particularly tasty. ‘71 was a good year for that pairing.

Was looking ahead to some November releases today and listened to DaP Vol.5 (11-17-73).

This run is insane:
Playin'
UJB
Dew
UJB
Playin'

This one has eluded me for some time. Glad I stumbled upon it today.

Yeah that one is great. They also did that same “sandwich” on 11/10/73, and I think one other time.

I've started adding some random tracks to soundcloud for the hell of it.

[Only registered users can see links.]
(I recommend listening to the combo with the Second that Emotion that precedes it, I also put on there)

Saw Bobby this past Thursday. Had a good time and, minus a couple hiccups, it was better han I expected it to be.

Hey Mitch I know you have plans for Blues Traveler/Avett when you're out this way, but I see that Dead/Co will also be in Boulder around the 5th/6th.

All the shows

Oh damnn, good to know. Thanks. How close is Boulder to Denver?

I think we're working Denver into a vacation where we also go to Jackson Hole and Yosemite. My wife is doing the scheming, but still plan on being in Denver roughly 7/3 to 7/7.

Boulder is about 30 minutes NW of Denver.

Red Rocks about 20 minutes SW of Denver.

I'm thinking I may do the northeast shows again and then boulder 7/5-7/6, and lake street dive/avett brothers @ red rocks on 7/7

I'm not surprised at 1 Citi Field. They were practically giving tickets away for the 2-night stands.

Looks like I'll be doing the Citi Field show, and then for my 4 nights in Denver in July, be doing something like this:

7/3- Rockies game
7/4- Blues Traveler (Red Rocks)
7/5- Avetts at RR or D&Co in Boulder
7/6- Avetts at RR or D&Co in Boulder (not sure which order to do 7/5 and 7/6)

On a somewhat related note, it's sometimes like pulling teeth to get my wife to go to a lot of the concerts I want to go to (she likes tucking in early, as do I usually). But since we're on vacation those days in CO, it's perfect

And related to that, I made a joke to her a while back that maybe I should start dating (to have someone to go to concerts/bars with). Then this past weekend, I saw a MILF we know at Dark Star Orchestra, hung with her a bit, and when my wife saw her at school yesterday, told said MILF my "dating" comment and she replied "I'll go with him", so now my wife is more open to going with me, and finally committed to JRAD next month
