it all depends on what kind of contract a title is a part of. they have more streaming titles than anyone else, but because of that it has a more active rotating door selection. some stuff like The Office, 30 Rock, Comedy Central and other NBC shows have been on there for years and don't look to be leaving anytime soon. a bunch of big movies with Starz are still up in the air, Miramax has a deal with them that basically rotates movies every 90 days or so, stuff like the FOX and ABC back catalog they've contracted looks to be pretty solid and long term (stuff like X Files, Wonder Years, Alias, etc.)

long story short, some titles are always there, some get rotated out or dropped every month.

what's the average time it takes for a new release to become available on the streaming service?

like "rise of the planet of the apes" becomes available on the dvd service tuesday. same for streaming?

All depends on the rights that Neflix gets.

Nope DVD and streaming releases don't go hand in hand.

When last we checked in on the possibility of a Party Down movie, creator Rob Thomas said that the imminent runaway success of NBC’s Free Agents could complicate writer John Enbom’s ability to do a sequel, and we still lived in a world where the prolonged Arrested Development tease served as a cautionary example regarding expecting your canceled cult TV shows to be magically revived. But now here we are, with Free Agents already a distant memory and Arrested Development making surprise deals with Netflix, so it’s slightly easier to believe Megan Mullally when she confirmed at the TCAs that Enbom is writing the Party Down movie right now, with plans to start filming in late spring or early summer.
Promisingly, Mullally mentioned Enbom showing an outline to “investors,” who are the people with the money, and they “enthusiastically approved,” which suggests they then agreed to hand over some of that money. Even more promisingly, she says the entire cast is expected to return with the possible exception of Jane Lynch, who is busy that day, whatever day that might be. Mullally added that she believed the film would pick up immediately after the second season finale and also hinted that we may meet “Lydia's ex-husband—Ed I think is name—who was really racist and a misogynist.” So, lots of almost-concrete details there to fuel expectations for the next year or so.

this is bullshit:

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group and Netflix, Inc. today announced a new agreement that will extend the current 28-day sales-only window to 56 days for Theatrical New Release and made-for-video titles on DVD and Blu-ray Disc

i don't really have the time or patience to deal with searching through torrent sites/burning dvds and everything else that entails. i get my movies in my mailbox and its done.

i haven't burned a dvd in years.

you go to demonoid.com (or the preferred site of your choosing) type in "the town" (or whatever) take 15 seconds to find one that suits your needs, take an hour (max) to download it, then stream that sucker to your tv. assuming you have an xbox or ps3 or something. it's way more fuckin' convenient than doing dvd's by mail. not to mention free.
