How much longer do you think DMB can honestly go on for?

I give them maybe 3 more years before they take hiatus, or call it quits.

As naive as it is, I don't even like to think about that.

Yeah.. I agree. I think it'll be many years before they completely stop touring.

We'll see how this album goes and if they can actually get through a recording session without wanting to punch each other for once.

This one has the potential for it, methinks, given that they're really deciding a lot about their future direction with this one. The band had their Everyday last time, and Dave's been quoted, more than once, as saying he thinks they need a bit of the old style of writing as well mixed in.

I just really hope it goes smoothly and produces a quality CD.

No matter what the next album does for sales, this band proves year in/year out that they love going on the road together. They've toured when they were barely known. They toured when they had hit albums. They toured with heavily critisized album that still sold fairly well. They toured by rehashing an unreleased album. They toured during and after a failed album.

No matter what they do, they play. Even with Dave's solo effort, his first love is DMB and always will be. I don't see them going on for another 10 or so years, but ya never know. I always think back to the Charlie Rose interview and he asked Dave how long did he think he could go on doing this and then there was a joke about The Stones and Mick saying "well I could do this 'till I'm 40" then when he was 40 he said "well I could do this 'till I'm 50" and so on. I think that may apply, in essence to how DMB will be sometime.

Wouldn't 2011 be the 20 year mark? I will say at least til then. 5 more years isn't too much of a stretch.

DMB has a lot more in them than we all think. If they can go year in and year out like this. I don't seem them stopping until they can't play anymore

i think they'll be around for quite a bit longer. while the die hard fan base is slightly frustrated with the recent direction, another great tour will keep them on board, and another great album will re-energize some of the "former" fan base. meanwhile, the casuals, and non-critics are still around, and the guys are having fun touring.
