God damn they were popular to shit on at the time, but I miss me a Butch Taylor Bartender solo.

I miss Bartender in general. Not D&T's version (since I've seen that like 6 times since 2014), but full band. I haven't seen Bartender at a full show since 6/2/12. And I've seen like 25+ full band shows since. That's one great song that never got overplayed for me. Got a steady sprinkling of it throughout my whole showgoing career until 2013. The most sick of it I ever was in 2014 as a D&T opener because I saw it 3 times and it was super predictable. But full-band, never got old.

The wall of noise has not been good to Bartender.

They're gonna practice. They are hosting this event, it's their hometown, and many of the acts are more popular than they are. They won't embarrass themselves like that

Yeah they'll probably do one rehearsal, but they're certainly not going to "bust" anything out. They'll play it super comfortable and safe which is totally fine and understandable, but I see so many people getting their hopes way too high for this. It's cool and very thoughtful of them to do this, but if you're thinking they are going to do anything "special" then you've clearly haven't followed them recently. Don't mean be negative or be a downer, but setting the bar low is the way to go these days.

Great interview with Dave, mentions his hopes to release some sort of album at the beginning of next year...

It always amazes me that Garth Brooks is that high on the list (#2). I think i know one of his songs.

Man, a couple more albums and they'll make a good leap up that list.

Bob Dylan isn't a draw anymore, and hasn't been for a long time. His concerts don't sell out. Honestly, he's awful now. Talk about a depressing "this is not the same anymore" act to watch.

Is there a consensus on best versions of Samurai Cop? Between full band, d/t even dave solo.
Listened to the debut a lot and a couple of other ones here or there. What's the go to folks? |
