I'll never understand how bands who do that don't get absurdly bored playing the same shit night in night out for years. I mean you don't have to go insane with diversity but you'd think they'd want to mix it up just a little. Oh well, bands like that I see one time usually and that's it. I just feel like playing the same songs over the years make me infinitely less likely to buy a ticket for multiple tours, where just a little setlist variation would probably bring me back

Yup. Doesn't bother me in this particular instance with the Counting Crows though, since I haven't seen them in a long long time.

Oh nice. I saw them last summer and the show was fantastic, but I looked and had I gone to the last show they played the other night, I would've only caught like, 5 unique tunes.

Worked a show that Sugar Ray played recently. Even the monitor guy was using "every morning!" as his ring-out phrase. That band has to be so fucking tired of playing the same set every night. Especially that tune.

I have zero interest in Rob Thomas tonight, btw, though. I wish the Crows were playing first. And I don't know who the opener is "K Phillips", not even sure what name the K stands for

Crows were good. Gotta love Adam Duritz. Stands there with his hands in his pockets like he couldn't care less, mostly speaking the words rather than singing. Didn't play my favorites from the newest album though (John Appleseed's Lament, Possibility Days, or Dislocation).

Ah, yeah, I got 2/3 of those last year. I'm a big fan of Cover Up the Sun and Palisades Park, got those too.

How was Rob Thomas? I've gotta say, I'm a sucker for him too.

He's not my cup of tea, so I was out in the VIP area and more concerned with beers and food trucks during his set. Can't really give any kind of accurate report on him. He did play a cover of David Bowie's "Let's Dance" which was, um, interesting.

Hey thanks. This'll be my third trip to Denver in a year, it's just a guys' getaway weekend and tons of sports on TV to do a bunch of 16th St. Mall/Downtown bars.

I'm not driving to Red Rocks, I'll uber. I've heard this should be a good show but I don't know the music. So I don't mind leaving a few minutes early to get an easy cab or uber back downtown. I might need a good downtown bar for the Bengals - Steelers game, we're staying at the Sheraton on the mall.

I don't know why it's taken me this long, but I've been getting into CRB lately. Gonna check them out when they're nearby here in November.

(also, paging JWood)

That's pretty much CR's dream... having Dead fans accept his Brotherhood.

It's been a bit of a harder transition for me, I have always been more into rock and roll (Zeppelin and the Stones) as opposed to psychedelic rock (Dead).

The Crowes always fell into the former category, and because of that it's been a little strange seeing CR change his musical path after so many years to this new sound he is trying to achieve (i.e. Dead 2.0).

He still has one of the best voices and continues to be write some lyrics that I can relate to, but some of the sounds and tones he and his bandmates are working with now are still a little strange to get used to. I actually find his cover choices more interesting than some of the CRB-written tunes these days.

I will continue to go see him and accept his musical direction for what it is, but I am still very much into the blues and rock and roll of generations past, which is why RR (the other brother) is an easier transition.
