How many times have we said this?

I will be surprised if it's not all new material at this point, though we'll see.

Could they reasonably drop an album on the first tour date?

Iím not sure, but I think that albums sold as ticket tie-ins are considered promotional by Billboard, and wonít count as sales. At least I remember reading that a year or so ago.

I feel like that would be the ideal scenario. Especially since they're giving copies with ticket purchases.

We initially heard early 2018 last year didn't we? May doesn't seem crazy.

Sure.

They don't want to pin down a date for two reasons :

1) avoid a repeat of after when Dave was re-recording vocals like two weeks before release and the liner notes couldn't even be updated to the new lyrics

2) feel out the rest of the market to make sure they pick a quiet release day, because the days when other artists would avoid the day of a dmb release are long past

You are very mistaken.

[Only registered users can see links.]

For a bundled album to be eligible for the Billboard 200, the ticket purchaser has to download or redeem it.

...

"It's just a flat-out scam," says indie concert promoter Seth Hurwitz, who owns and operates Washington, D.C.'s Anthem venue. Hurwitz says bundling forces people to buy music so acts "can jack up first-week album sales," but in doing so "people are putting tours on sale way before they ought to."

...

This week, Kenny Chesney's new concert album... became the first live album to top the Billboard 200 in seven years and the biggest-selling live album since Paul McCartney's Back in the U.S.: Live 2002. The reason: The country star bundled it into the price of tickets for his upcoming tour...

In October, P!nk's new album, Beautiful Trauma, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with two-thirds of her 384,000 albums sold tied to ticket sales, while about 80,000 of the 134,000 copies of Shania Twain's Now album sold in its first week came from ticket bundling, according to Nielsen Music.

Edit: responding to James, v bulletin isn't letting me quote him for some reason.

Great question. I do not know if they are that disciplined.

That album promotion ends May 17th. I would think they would want all copies to be shipped out for the release date so I doubt it's the next day.

There's a week off after Camden and before MA/CT late June.... Could be in NYC those days for promotion and release show.

Well, thatís definitely later than the article that I read. Iím kind of surprised that Billboard allows such a naked playing of their system.

They've dropped nearly every "road tested" song since 2000. There is absolutely zero reason to believe Be Yourself will be anywhere near this album.

You are right, but it's still a frightening thought . Also, keep in mind that the last LT release contained no 2016 songs on it.

If I had to guess, I’d say that the new songs he was playing last year and in Mexico are the ones we’re likely to see on the album. I’m guessing the rest are gone, which is largely a good thing.
